I am a Porsche Driving Coach at the Experience Center here in LA. The majority of the vehicles that we coach and drive are PDK. It is a fabulous transmission and offers may options for both driver input as well as it learning the way you like to drive.
That being said I drive an older air cooled 911 to and from the Center everyday and love rowing through the manual 915. There is nothing as satisfying as a good heel and toe match rev down shift.
It really is all about the tactile feel and inputs for the driver.
If I want to drive up a mountain on a public road I am picking my old air cooled manual. If I want to drive fast I'm putting a PDK in auto and concentrating on my brake and turn in points.
It's a pressonal choice but I don't think you will be disappointed with either.

Steve
