It started years ago with Gary Hart...maybe earlier. Clinton, Cosby, Spacey, Louis CK, Roy Moore. Who is next?

Sarah Silverman provided an interesting comment on CK:

You’ve probably heard what’s happening in the news recently regarding sexual assault, especially in the entertainment industry. And to be clear, it’s not just Hollywood, it’s everywhere — like this stuff happens in bakeries, too. It’s just not getting written up in The New York Times. This recent calling out of sexual assault has been a long time coming. It’s good. It’s like cutting out tumors. It’s messy and it’s complicated and it is going to hurt, but it’s necessary, and we’ll all be healthier for it. And it sucks, and some of our heroes will be taken down, and we will discover bad things about people we like, or in some cases, people we love. Let’s just say it. I’m talking about Louis. And I’ve of course been asked to comment, and in full honesty, I really really really don’t want to. I wish I could sit this one out. But then I remembered something I said on this very show, that if it’s mentionable, it’s manageable. So I’m going to address the elephant masturbating in the room. And full disclosure, I’m still processing all this ****. But here’s where I’m at on it as of this moment. It could change tomorrow, and if it does, I will keep you posted. One of my best friends of over 25 years, Louis C. K., masturbated in front of women. He wielded his power with women in f*cked up ways, sometimes to the point where they left comedy entirely. I could couch this with heartwarming stories of our friendship and what a great dad he is — but that’s totally irrelevant, isn’t it? Yes, it is. It’s a real mind f*ck, you know, because I love Louis. But Louis did these things. Both of those statements are true, so I just keep asking myself, “Can you love someone who did bad things? Can you still love them?” I can mull that over later, certainly, because the only people that matter right now are the victims. They are victims, and they’re victims because of something he did. So I hope it’s okay if I am at once very angry for the women he wronged and the culture that enabled it, and also sad, because he’s my friend. But I believe with all my heart that this moment in time is essential. It’s vital that people are held accountable for their actions, no matter who they are. We need to be better. We will be better. I can’t f*cking wait to be better.

I think that there is a long long line of men in politics, Hollywood, and in business that are exactly like this. Over the next several months and hopefully from now on, these guys will be called out on it.

Here in the global Mecca of PK its become an epidemic. Every other day there is a new uprise on the internet from another group. Personally I believe this is the start of a much larger movement where finally the women will take power away from men. Not by brute force, but by shaming, outing and law. From way back in time (still in place in muslim countries where women are obliged to cover themselves) it was the privilige of a man to choose woman. Now it will be the other way around. No man will dare to make any move on a woman without a written conscent for fear of being accused. Men will become the passive part. Sitting quitely in the back. Waiting for a female to approach. Leather and whips may come into faschion. And some men may like that.

Oh well. Just a friday morning rant. Almost whisky time.

End game? Equality, Woman's rights, Equal opportunity? No I think these are more sinister accusations to burn individuals then to fix a bigger problem.

Almost got fired, got sent home for a week without pay, and had to go to a shrink for sensitivity training for mentioning that the wound care specialist had to do a skin graft on my foot after stepping on a nail. And that I had to sign a waiver because skin grafts were made from foreskin. The chick made a statement that i had said they filled the holes in my foot with dead baby penises. And that that was sexual harassment and sexual innuendo.

As far as I am concerned that **** has gone way too far when you can't even use the proper clinical terms to tell someone about a medical procedure. And if she didn't want to hear about a medical procedure, why the heck didn't she just say she didn't like hearing about medical stuff?

The payment for the smell of food is the sound of money. If someone was truly abused, that is awful, and needs to be addressed. If you were made uncomfortable, you should get a shrink.

A lot of payback going on here, but let's face it, some of this stuff is truly weird. What is interesting is that some men are owning up, and some are trying to slide by.

True enough, but you won't do it again in any case. Assuming everyone is a mature adult is a mistake, but it is easy to forget.

Silverman's comments are completely on point with regard to her friend CK. Al Franken otoh seems as much a victim of a change in mores and his own exuberance. There is a difference between "sexual assault" and offensive inappropriate misbehavior. Isn't either actual genital misconduct or wielding power in an attempt to coerce an "element of the crime"?
