Bo are U trying to say you want a "Reach Around" and are mad that the USA isn't giving them anymore under this administration.

Did you read my thread "What I don't like about Bush" I talked about this very problem.

Bo 12-18-2003 09:56 AM

Ok; maybe I was a bit harsch in some of my comments - I give you that - but they were made as a result of frustration, more than anything else.

I'm pleased to see at least a couple of serious attempts has been made at turning this into a meaningful debate, rather than a fight.
Cudos to those of you :p

The only point I'm trying to make, is to make someone aware of the other side of the coin... and the reason why your country is in the state it is in today, globally.
But I realize that your deep-rooted (and there's nothing wrong with that!) patriotism makes it hard, or even impossible, to question your actions in any way, without being shot down at once, with no further questions asked.

And maybe that is the essence of the problem?

island911 12-18-2003 10:02 AM

Bo, is it at all possible that the oil exporting conutry of sweden liked the situation better when Iraq was restricted from suppling Iraqi oil on the open market?

Why don't you question your own countys propoganda before questioning our countys fight!

It may be a surprise to some, but there is more to this world than the US (most americans wouldn't know though, since they've never been out of the country..). It is attitudes such as the one's expressed above in this thread that make people around the world hate the US - what is so hard about that to understand? Do you fail to see that you bring the hatred upon yourselves?

I've said it before (and I'll say it again, for reference) - I used to live in the US and I know your country well (I have travelled to more states than most americans do in a lifetime..). I used to absolutely love the US, but the attitude that I see nowadays makes me sick....
There's of course nothing wrong about patriotism, I consider myself very patriotic, but there should be a line somewhere where you ask yourself if maybe you've gone too far...

How about being humble once in a while? How about listening for a change (instead of just invading)? And how about giving people a break when they do not support your views (it's called freedom of choice, you know?), instead of reverting to name-calling (most of us stopped doing that when we left preschool...)?
No wonder US-popularity around the world is at an all-time low... and this makes me sad more than anything else.

If my country behaved like this, I'd be embarrassed....

Disclaimer - the above does not - of cource! - apply to all americans! But a share of the population big enough to make me worry...

No doubt, these opinions will get me flamed... but I'm entitled to express my opinions. Without name-calling.
I'm not out to kill your country, but it makes me mad as he** to see that so many of you only see one side of the coin.

so what does any of this have to do with us bashing the French??

dd74 12-18-2003 01:00 PM

I don't know, but I needed to suck on a Ricola after reading Bo's post.

Jeez!

ronin 12-18-2003 01:03 PM

LOL. get that funky taste out of your mouth. y'know, I really can't understand why so many people refuse to look at all the facts that prompted our involvement in Iraq. I suppose the rest of the world lives under the mantra of "well don't just do something, stand there!!"

dd74 12-18-2003 01:10 PM

They complain to complain. The real hurt will come to them when they run out of oil to run their cars and heat their homes.

And anyway, Sweden. What's in Sweden? Saabs, right? And Volvos. Both of whom are owned by American corporations...right?

ooooh. that's hitting a bit below the belt :D

I really can't understand why so many people refuse to look at all the facts that prompted our involvement in Iraq.

They do. The answer is different (it was "don't invade"). This is different to "just stand there".

League of Nations - Couldn't Stop Hitler

United Nations - Couldn't Stop Bush

island911 12-18-2003 02:13 PM

United Nations - Wouldn't Stop Saddam

Bo 12-18-2003 11:20 PM

And the ranting continues, on and on, and on.... you just don't get it, do you?
Yeah, you are "the greatest", you "kick ass", you are "the home of the brave and free" (insert laughter here :D ), yada, yada, yada... it's like talking to a brick wall!

Well, let me put it plain and simple to you: with a big-brother attitude like that, you deserve everything that is coming to you. Literally.

The only thing that ticks me off, is that because of your attitude, I can't roam freely around the world anymore, because of the risk of being mistaken for an american by the people you f**c off.

And pleeease - "all the facts that prompted our involvement in Iraq" - don't insult everyone's intelligence; we all know you go nowhere if it's not in your interest. Spare us the humanitarian mantra, it is soo fake....
Sure - overthrowing Saddam was a great thing, but who are you trying to fool by pretending that it was done out of pity for the Iraqi people or because WMD pose a threath to the US (ridicilous..)

Go ahead, continue to throw insults - looks like that's the only "arguments" you're able to come up with...

End of discussion.

PS. What the he*c does the ownership of SAAB and Volvo have to do with this discussion?? It's just pathetic, lame excuses for replies, by someone too brainwashed to have an independent thought of their own.
Like I care who owns a this-or-that company.... what I DO care about, is the ****ty way you treat the rest of the world.
And anyone with just an ounce of guts, would too.

whaaaaaaddever!

M. Hendrix 12-19-2003 02:54 AM

You idiots need to look up the Iraqi Army videos of them killing villagers.

You idiots could use a good dose of reality.

There have been nearly 300,000 people dug up from mass graves in Iraq, and a member of the death squads that did it, came forward and said they killed 8 to 12 hours a day, in shifts, around the clock for about 6 months... women, children, innocent victims of insanity.

I'd ****ing kick you to the curb, none of you idiots have one iota of respect for anyone but yourselves.

Humanity doesn't live in you, you are animals.

This is looking more and more like a ricer board. Hurling insults like school kids...come on, let's pretend we're adults, OK?

350HP930 12-19-2003 03:47 AM

Most small minded neo-facists are never good at intelligent debate.

rcecale 12-19-2003 04:59 AM

Nor are (How do you say it Brawlins?) Liberal Weenies? Always whining about how their Constitutional rights are being threatened the minute someone raises an opposing point of view...that's not debate!
