Grandson is 5 (last week). He loves trains. So he's getting a O gauge Lionel. Reason for the O gauge is it matches my extensive O gauge setup he hasn't seen yet. :)

Any train set will do. :)

My son who's 10 is big time into Power Rangers, Dino Dan, Inspector Gadget and Voltron TV shows. He's also into Star Wars video games and all things sports related.

Check out zero toys, they have stuff like those ray gun things that blow smoke rings and go pew pew pew.

Don't buy a gift that is too advanced for the kid. My grandson got a bunch of Lego's for his birthday. He really enjoyed watching his mom put the kits together but they are too advanced for him to do his self. He really enjoys taking them apart. :) Mom spends a hr putting a kit together and he can take it apart in less than 5. :)

Someone gave him a 600 piece Lego add on kit. It just 600 pieces that you can use to build whatever. He asked me the other day to "build it for me Grandpa" and couldn't understand it didn't make anything.

Instead of Lego I'd suggest K'Nex. He has a bunch of Fisher Price CONSTRUX that he builds things with but those are NLA. Those two types of building sets are designed for little hands better than the fiddly parts of Lego.

a little anti-climatic, my friend put the kibosh on the glove or a football. She said baseball isn't big in China though she is a neurology PhD working on a cure for Parkinson's so may not be in tune with your average Chinese boy.

That left a new idea, Harvard and MIT hoodies for them. When Aaron was here we toured both campuses so he could see where he wanted his kids to go. So somewhat appropriate.

I can't wait until she contacts him, probably later this week.

Those Air-Zookas are awesome. Kinda chubby in size, tho.

Mega Nerf Guns.......They are huge and I just hauled two of them 1700 miles. Wife's grandsons are 9 and 5 and got to open them at Thanksgiving since we were there. They went crazy:

Good idea with the Harvard gear. I bought a few items at the bookstore when I went to summer school there as a lad.

My 8 year old loves a large blast radius. At least that is what he told me a couple weeks ago. He also loves the Nerf stuff and R/C B-17 bombers.
