Daniel Day Lewis retiring

Too bad for everybody but him and his family

I don't think I ever saw him be anything less than outstanding. I was just talking to a patient about it the other day.

I agree, great actor. Last of the Mohicans, one of my favorite movies.
His others excellent as well .

Who? What else was he in?

JavaBrewer 11-29-2017 09:27 PM

Great actor. Know zero about him personally, perhaps why I still like him so much? He was the lead in one of my favorite movies.

Gangs of New York also

Gangs of NY and There Will Be Blood were both riveting. GoNY is one of my favorite movies.

My Left Foot. A story about cerebral palsy where he won Oscar for best actor.

A brilliant actor... I'd certainly recommend all of his movies but "Lincoln" is a stand out.

Apparently he spent some time learning how to make & repair shoes recently.

I think he's said this is his last movie before. Hopefully, he'll make another after Phantom Thread. Interesting article in the latest Time Magazine. His prep for Last of the Mohicans was interesting, to say the least. Fully committed!

Yep, I think he retired twice before. He'll take a few years off and be back.

'There Will Be Blood' is one of my favs of his movies.

What I find fascinating about him is that despite how great his performances are, he could walk right up to me and I wouldn't have the foggiest idea who he is. Maybe it's because a lot of the movies are historical pieces, but maybe he's just that good at dissolving into the character.
