Looking for colossal fresh roasted pistachios...the GOOD stuff

Bought some of the most delicious roasted pistachios at Atwater Market in Montreal a week ago and my supply has now gone. Nothing, and I mean nothing, bought in stores here compares to the flavor and quality of these nuts. 'Wonderful' brand is crap...nasty, awful crap.

I've had the smaller pistachios from Iran and Turkey but really prefer the very large North American type.

So...if anyone else here has a pistachio habit can you please share where you get yours? paid $3.95/100g in Atwater. And that was Canadian $$!

I like nuts: almonds, cashews and pistachios. I'm kinda fussy about where I buy them too. I gave up on the big box stores and retail chains. There are a couple of specialty stores where I live and the quality is a bit better. I have bought from nuts.com esp cashews and almonds. I like raw almonds because I roast them myself. I will look into Shaun's link. I look forward to the replies.

I doubt Costco nuts are as good, but they are much better than Wonderful. it's very rare I find a rotten nut in the bag.

My wife gets me some from here every Christmas. Very nice pistachios, I'm partial to the red chile flavor.

We have been involved in the pistachio business for decades. They are harvested in September. The best time to buy them is in November. I don't disagree with your assessment of quality.

Try calling Horizon or Meridian Nut Growers, who is a selling agency for premium California (not the ones mentioned) nuts. Avoid Iranian pistachios, just trust me on that.

PS forgot to say, tell them you want to buy a case in bulk. If you remind me, then I'll do it for you. I think a case is like 20~25 pounds.

These are great ! I love the garlic and green chile ! My son lives in Albuquerque and sends me some every year, plus I visit twice a year and fill my carry-on with them !

OK, I usually order 1 case for myself. I'll be sure to order 3. I usually get them right after Halloween. My freaking Pelican inbox is always full, so MRM and Beretta try to re-post or something I guess. Since this is from the farm directly, it's going to be in a bulk case. I can sometimes get individual bags, but trust me that is not the way to go.

Just ordered a pound of the salted and a pound of the garlic green chile. I sense this may be an ongoing activity.

Will do. 25lbs of super duper jumbo pistachios sounds great!
