Are the Flyers & Sabres done for the year?

Here it is December and no one has mentioned the NHL. Its time to get things going and when I say "get things going" I mean as in this:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1512261180.jpg :D
-The Flyers have lost the last 10. They are 8 - 11 - 7 at the quarter mark.
-The Sabres are 6 - 16 - 4 and have a goal diff of -34! The own the basement of the league. They were expected to have a good year.
Does either team have a prayer short of a Christmas miracle?

While we're at it, who would have thought the DEVILS would be 4th in the East and 7th in the entire league??? (Flat-are you happy?) How about the Habs not even being in a Wild Card spot? (you know how sad I am about that)
It must be I woke up in a Alternate Universe.

Finally, the good news is that with the new slashing rule, Cindy Crosby hasn't severed any fingers this year.

Lots of teams not performing to their potential right now.
Some real surprises too. I really didn't expect the Flames to be so competitive this year, or the Canucks. Both have been holding their own in the Pacific.

That's right! I forgot about the Flames. Then there's the Oilers and the Blackhawks doing poorly.

I've been trying to keep my enthusiasm on the DL given the Devils' past penchant for finding ways to lose. But yeah they're fun to watch again!

Darn you Joe!

Sentiment in Phlly is Hackstal has to go, and maybe the GM...

The Sabres got a goal against the Pens last night! Broke a multi-game scoreless streak. They had a lot of good attempts but not much past Jarry. A disappointing season so far.

Sorry about that bro. That was an ugly game for yous guyz. Kincaid was not solid and the D didn't give him any help. On the offense, there was no traffic in front of the Coyotes goalie.
Hang in there. They are still 5-3-2 in last 10 with away game stats of 9-3-2. An away record like that will do well. IMO, they need to play Schneider more and solidify the home stats: 6-4-2.

I'd be more concerned if I was a Sabre coach. It's the coach's job to coordinate and motivate the talent he has. That said, when the team is losing you can't fire the goalie but you can fire the coach.

Well, the Wings just lost their 7th straight game.
It seems like there is no "middle class" in the NHL this year.

Por_sha911 12-17-2017 04:27 PM

Well once again my predictions are off.
Right after the my prediction of the Flyers demise they win 6 straight!
The Sabres are still fighting for the basement spot and only the Coyotes have a worse record.

Too bad dum-dum Marchand is still gooning it up though, as his late high hit on Tavares shows. As was said in the past, he just can't help himself.

Oh that's terrible.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/kao5.gifhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/kao5.gif
Looks like the NHL Dept of Safety thought it was not needing discipline so I guess the official answer is it wasn't premeditated.

In other news, the Sabres are still in the basement and the Bruins takes a 3-0 win. In all fairness, Buffalo played a good game and both goalies made incredible saves.

Hey Joe, did you see what Riquo did to us on his return to the Rock?

Also NJ fans showed real class when he stepped on to the ice. Dude got a standing "O" welcome.

Por_sha911 12-21-2017 06:41 PM

That was artistry in motion. I always wonder what make them think "I think I'll just pop this over his head" or, "hey, I think I pass this to myself through my legs..."

New Jersey is the surprise dark horse this year. I know, I know, don't get your hopes up...

Por_sha911 12-21-2017 06:45 PM

Oh BTW, Eric: Here's an interesting number.
Cindy has 38 PIM so far this year versus Marchand 33.
