Counterfeit parts on Amazon?
|
Yeppp
I bought a carharrt hoodie, logo is all ****ed up... Obvious knock off. Bought a carharrt beanie... Logo was smaller not to scale, and wrong color. Another knock off. I don't trust amazon anymore. Too many small trusted websites that offer a genuine product at lower prices. I do eBay instead of Amazon now. Actual pictures of products, lower prices. rating system that works. What needs to happen is a market like Zion. Escrow all the way. You don't sell a quality product. You don't get paid... |
Not surprising. Counterfeit parts are an issue in Air Force aircraft procurement so why not Amazon.
|
Been going on forever.
Whats a shame about this particular case is that the company involved, Otis USA, is the best supplier of wheel bolts in the land. Odd stuff like 14mm ball head on a 12mm stud or vice versa, crucial to adopt many wheels from Benz to Benz. Use of a tm'd logo has always been a problem though, and they should have known better. |
That's what you get, when you shop for anything and the overriding consideration is low price. This is not limited to Amazon, but it's rampant throughout the industry. Even parts that you would not expect to be copied, because you wouldn't think there would be enough demand for them, have been counterfeited. It's why I buy things through suppliers that may not have the lowest price, but have more control over their supply chain.
Caveat emptor, idiots. |
^^ Yep. I never have and never will purchase car parts on Amazon, I’ll pay a bit more knowing I’m getting a legit product.
|
Amazon is just like eBay..... they rely on individual sellers...... you don't really get anything from Amazon..... you get it from Joe blow who drop ships what you order from their site...... obviously lol

Did you see this story? This involves the pillow company mentioned in the article.
Amazon customer buys dinosaur pillow for her little boy - but what arrives leaves her gobsmacked - Mirror Online She ordered a dinosaur pillow shown in this picture: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1512745297.jpg This is what got delivered: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1512745297.jpg |

Some of you may already know, the big A has secured current parts manufacturing contracts to sell direct from the large suppliers. They want to eliminate what's goin on now so have total control. It will happen, it will be a game changer.

I only buy items available on Prime. Even if it's a 3rd party, I think they vet those a bit more. But have never bought parts...
|
I've bought lots of stuff from amazon and have never had a problem at all.
They'll continue getting my business. I have got cheap knock off crap from e-bay tho. (knock-off Gillette mach 3 razor blades.) |
I bought two boxes of Titleist Pro V1 golf balls from Amazon. Wasn't even a big discount, just convenience. They we so obviously fake. Packaging was thin paper, balls not in 3-ball sleeves, balls felt lighter than usual. When I hit it off the tee it made a dull thud and went half the usual distance. I cut one in half and it wasn't even close. It had a hollow rubber ball center. Took me three weeks to get a refund.
EDIT!!!! Just checked my email records. Fake Pro V1's were from Ebay. P.S. I love Amazon...even though the local malls will be homeless shelters soon. |
super annoying to me when anyone buys knock-offs.
rollexs..and Prado purses.. that's the conscious buying of fakes. the unknowingly buying fakes pisses me off. you get ripped off on Amazon while wearing a fake watch..whatever. |
LOL. It wasn't long ago that many were predicting the demise of FleaBay due to bad purchase experiences from rip off artists and knockoffs. Now Amazon has fallen prey to the Tabs mentality: "the world is coming to an end!"
There are some things I buy that MUST be the real deal. Hellmans mayo and nothing else (yeah, I know that would be a debate unto itself) and some things I don't care too much about like the knock off air filter for my 10 YO mower that is 1/7th the price of the real deal. When I buy repair parts for the fridge or the computer, I'll pay a little more to get them from a reputable dealer online. |
