Spanish swords

Anyone know much about Spanish swords?

I picked this up off ebay and it came today. This is not the final plan but at least it's up.

1930s Telodo Spain rapier.

I'm looking to add some 16th century replicas. This is probably one of three.

Just don't leap from the second floor, grab the drapes and let them rip as they gracefully drop you to the floor with saber ready like Errol Flynn. The Wife will get pissed. Ask me how I know.

Have an Aunt that her living room is all decorated like a Spanish castle with sword and armor, giant rock fireplace, big tapestries and big wood and leather furniniture to match. It was really cool. The only problem was if you went into the bathroom EVERYTHING was PINK, EVERYTHING. Even the faucets and handles! It looked like a barrel of Pepto Bismal Exploded!

Look for mark indicating Toledo or Madrid. Both places are famous for knife and sword making. Madrid is Royal Armory at Palacio del Real. Damascene ornamentation is common in Toledo.

ETA: LOL Just noticed the name "Toledo" inscribed on the blade. That is what is called an "indication".

Have a set of table knives bought in Toledo. They're okay.

ETA2: For me, Toledo is more special as it's the final home of my favorite painter Doménikos Theotokópoulos aka El Greco. His house is just across the alley behind the Toledo Cathedral. The Cathedral is filled with his work from after he moved to Toledo in 1577.

I bought a replica in Toledo about 15 years ago in one of those tourist word shops. I hung in my office for some years but my Supreme Commander decided that she doesn't like the ides of a sword sitting on a wall since the kids came along. i always wanted wanted to sharpen it.

More awe-inspiring to me is "El Transparente" the hole in the ceiling behind the altar that lets natural sunlight bathe the altar. Photos will never do it justice - only way to appreciate it is to stand behind the altar and look up. You will never forget the scene.

I believe the industry has moved to China. Knowing the blade was crafted here and not in China means much more to me.

I'd like to visit Toledo Spain at some point.
