Anyone have experience driving a G56 transmission?

New ram came in last week. Ram recommends 500 miles before towing. So I hastily put 500 miles on the trunk. The problem I'm running into, is that the transmission does not like shifting. Have to use an unusual amount of force to put the trunk in gear. Shifting is not smooth in the slightest bit. I can describe it as crunchy.

Normal for these trans? Dealer is about an hour away from me at the moment, and I can't afford waiting around all day while they twiddle their thumbs.

Do you know "double clutch" or do you just poke a gear?
Next- Most G56 like to have an extra Qt oil in above what is called for.
Next, AFAIK there is a bolt on saddle you can install on it (around it) to stop itself from stretching into pieces.

Truly it is a sad deal America, We do not make a good pickup, IDC what brand it is, it comes with a pedigree of problems.
I keep hoping Honda or Toy would import one ton dually.
Perhaps Hino.

I'm happy with my F-150. I've had minor issues, but engine/trans have been solid. My dad has an F-350 with 173k on the dial. He just pulled a 12k 5th wheel from Michigan down to the Florida Keys. Truck was didn't break a sweat.

Got to be honest, I appreciate the Cummins engines in Dodge trucks, but beyond that pretty much view them as pieces of crap.

I’d go back and ask to drive another back to back with yours. Have the service manager with you.

What was the test drive in the demo like before you bought this one?

They should shift without a huge noticeable effort...

I do not disbelieve in anything. I start from the premise that everything is true until proved false. Everything is possible.

Weird, did it drive like that on the test drive? During the first 500 miles? When did it start shifting like sheisse?

I'd check the fluid, but then if I had a new vehicle, I wouldn't think I'd need to check or do anything else with the fluid.

Special order. No test drive. Dealer doesn't have any other g56 equipped trucks at the moment.
Been like this since day one. Dealer said it's still not broken in, and cited tight tolerances. However, I have zero confidence in that service manager.

Kinda put off on dodge at the moment. Should have heed y'alls warnings.
On the bright side, she pulls a 10k gooseneck like it's empty.

Garage
Have them write up a service ticket to check out a your problem with shifting.
Keep a copy for your records. Hopefully not but you may need it for the lemon law.
