Pat DiNizio of the Smithereens. R.I.P.:(
Pat was a great front man. A hauntingly perfect voice paired with some great guitar rock. The Smithereens were and will remain my band. After all my years as a fan, I finally met Pat and Jimmy at the Whiskey. They were the real deal and my night was made extra special having met them.
Pat will be missed. This one hurts. |

Big bummer. We have seen them a couple of times at a small venue in So Cal...really excellent shows. Long time fans here. Very sad.

Thanks for your post and most succinct words of respect and appreciation, Pete.
Although I was never fortunate enough to see them/Pat live......I loved the Smithereens and can't tell you how many times I have played their music over the years. "Green Thoughts" is just one of those albums that ranks way up there - in the top 10 pretty much, IMHO. RIP Pat.....
