Those are always fun.

Hahahah.

Yeah, I found a plugin for firefox just so I can right click and zoom those down to a viewable size.

Can the poster not see how huge the pix are?

That particular poster is EXTREMELY tech savvy, Unix/Linux, programmer, etc..... He knows.

Nikon D7200, once I tore myself away from Pelican I watched some tutorials on youtube and uploaded the setting and user manual then went out to the park and played with it a bit. Still have some learning to do but not so so intimidated by the thing now.

Of course it has a idiot (I mean program mode) where it does everything for you but where is the fun in that.

From the first night I got it shooting in program mode:

Nice! Great cat shot!

I'm locked into canon glass, so I'm in Canon land, but that looks like a camera body you can really have some fun with.

Now you can spend 2018 buying new lenses and gadgets!
When I got my canon, I spent all my time in AP or time priority. Now I shoot in all manual.

Christmas is a great time to play in manual ( I mean-what can go wrong????) ! Have fun!

Scott - I've used this resizer program for years. Works well, and never had a problem with uploading afterwards.

Image Resizer for Windows | Lets you resize images by right-clicking.

Glad to hear you're having fun with your new to you D7200.

So far

Camera = $680

105mm macro = $305

Grip + 2x batteries + charger = $54

Padded strap $7.50 + screen protector (for back) $6 + 52mm UV filter (for macro) $4.50 + 3 pack 8MB SDHC $25 = $43

Total = $1082

Fortunately the three lenses and flash I already fit the new D7200

At work, can't upload here but copied the file for home.

Lets see if this works:

Every once in a while I link to something where it was reduced by code to a smaller display resolution, yet hot linking the image gave it the real size.

When I see I have done this I take the time to fix/edit.

I was a 35mm Canon guy for about 40 years started with a FTB and ended with a T90... love, love, loved the T90...

When my T90 died I felt the siren song of digital... then... he who shall not be named* turned me to Nikon.

Acceptable picture size of Pelican?

Your camera came with software to load on the computer. It will open the full res file and let you scale it down. I always shoot at max res. Memory is dirt cheap, and if Elvis steps out of the spacecraft, you want to ready with max resolution for posterity.

Scott Douglas 12-17-2017 07:42 AM

If "he who shall not be named*" had been a really good salesmen, he would have convinced you to get a Sony so you could use just about any lens you wanted via an adapter. Oh well, water under the bridge now, as they say.
Your D7200 is a very capable camera, you should have lots of fun with it.
And I agree, don't shoot at anything less than the best resolution it can take pictures at. You can always downsize a photo, but I haven't seen too many upsizing programs lately.
What 105 Macro lens did you get?
