"New" mirrors on a 962
I've been seeing this circling the internet this past weekend, taken during the Daytona Classic 24 last month. While they don't look good at all, I do understand why they are needed. What do you guys think about these new additional mirrors?

I figured whatever is behind you doen't matter. Unless they are in a 917-30.
That's exactly what I would have thought!
Did they try to find the ugliest looking mirrors on purpose?
I mean if they really wanna see what's behind em, just mount a rear facing camera on the wing or something, with a display in the car.. You'll get much better view then that shakey mirror.
And you can use it to record the sad look on the face of the lesser bugsmasher you just overtook |
Might be rules based for the vintage racing class?
Maybe it was the only thing in the Tweaks catalog they could find that would fit the car.
I'm ok with the mirrors, it's the beep beep beep beep when they back up that gets me.
appears that 5 minutes of wrench time and they'd be off. so, it's a nothing burger.
Definitely is very easy to unbolt, but just as svandamme said, I would agree. Rear mounted camera system like what most of the IMSA and FIA WEC cars are using would be perfect. Not the most sense when it comes to cost, though.
Cost? Did that word actually come out of your mouth when talking about a 962?
The cost is rather insignificant, in the grand scheme of things... |
