Bitcoin transfer question

I tried to transfer bitcoins from my Gemini account to Coinbase.

I got the address from Coinbase and Gemini sent the funds. But they never showed up. Of course there isn’t anyone to contact. Where could these funds disappear to? Or are they just hung up? Can the transaction be cancelled?

I did transfers from coinbase to bitstamp with conversions and back to coinbase from bitstamp a couple times today. Both times completed in minutes.

Anything to do with coinbase in the past couple days runs the risk of being heavily delayed.

The Bitcoin block chain is also backed up with the selloff. Be patient, it will show.

Coin base is iffy.
Being investigated for inside trading for that bitcoin cash deal

Need to check your facts, they are the ones doing the investigating.

Lots and lots of delayed transactions right now due to volume. My last payout from a pool took 16 hours to go through.

I finally got my funds yesterday. Of course bitcoin was at $17000 when I made the transfer. And now $6000. Don’t think I can recommend Coinbase. 4 months to make a transfer. Argggggg

Now you see the drawback to Bitcoin and why alt coins are on the rise.

4 months means there was a big issue though.

Were you converting to USD using Coinbase, or were you simply moving your wallet?

Just use the Square Cash app...

I've noticed a lot of Square setups in smaller business, I think they are starting to become the next paypal IMO.

I was transferring BTC to BTC. If it was to usd that would have been better. I did get this from Coinbase today. I don’t really understand the transfer protocol so much. But if they gave me an address. Shouldn’t it be valid?

We are reaching out to notify you that we recently credited your account for a previous transaction.

When the Bitcoin Cash fork occurred last year, it split the Bitcoin blockchain into two separate chains. After this point, some customers mistakenly sent Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash to an unsupported address from the opposite chain. Because these transactions were not sent to the customer’s registered address on the relevant chain, the funds were not credited to their Coinbase account.

One or more of your incoming transactions was sent to an unsupported address that was not registered to your Coinbase account, and thus was not credited to you at the time of the transaction. As a courtesy to our customers, we retroactively added support for these transactions and credited them to your account.

As the cryptocurrency industry evolves, new blockchains will continue to emerge and could cause confusion about which address you should use for your Coinbase transactions. Coinbase does not support any asset being sent to the address for a different asset. Any funds sent to the incorrect address will be lost.

You should always be sure to use an address which has been generated for the specific asset you are sending. You can view these addresses, or generate a new one, by visiting the Addresses page in your account tools.

Thank you for using Coinbase,

The Coinbase Team

Looks like you tried to send BTC to a BCC wallet and it wouldn't go through, it was in limbo until Coinbase added functionality to cancel the pending transaction. This is a big problem with forks since they use the same wallet naming convention. Consider yourself lucky, there are times when if you do that, it's lost forever.

34 BTC is still a good amount to have. I would suggest holding onto it, especially considering the past 3 days activity.
