Closed on our retirement home this morning
Well, one step closer towards retirement. We're looking at 2-3 yrs most likely. So the house will be under property management through the agency we bought it through, rented on an annual basis. It will pay for itself during that time period, and property won't be any cheaper when we retire, so we pulled the trigger now.
We really love this place. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Your post reminds me of an email my dad sent to me 5 years ago.
That wouldn't happen to be Punta Gorda would it, lol? Congrats! |

Thanks, and yes, it's Punta Gorda. Burnt Store Lakes to be precise.

Thanks, Dave.
I've got relation a few miles south west of Punta in Bokeelia. It looked familiar. |

That is very, very nice. I really like the floor plan.
Make sure you have stand-by power for the inevitable "named" storm ![]() Well done!

Look like a friend's retirement home in Sarasota. He loves sending me pics of him sipping a drink poolside when the weather is nasty here in Oregon.
Funny thing..he never did sent me pics when he was getting hammered by a hurricane and weather here was fine... Oh well, it's just below freezing here now. Will give it an hour or two to warm up a bit, then a Mustang run to my favorite pool hall. Home, and car have a good heat source, as does the pool hall.

Beautiful place !! I'm assuming there are plenty of opportunities for activities. You can only take so much of "sitting by the pool sipping a drink."

Oh, I can take a lot of that, but a lot of activities in the area.

Paul, no stand-by power yet, but there will be a whole house generator when we move in.

We almost bought in Deep Creek. But that was the runner-up. We wanted to buy in PG Isles where our friends live, but the prices have gotten crazy. We missed a good one in the Isles by a week, diagonally across the canal from our friends.

WOW.....looks good, Dave!
Great strategy to buy now. I predict real estate in Florida to climb quite a bit higher over the remaining Baby Boomer retirement era. I lived in the SW Florida area for a few years....Naples, Ft Myers, and Lehigh Acres. I absolutely loved it, except when it came to the surfing part...lol. There's a German American social group in the Cape Coral/Ft Myers area worth checking out. They put on an awesome Oktoberfest! Thanks for posting and stay in touch please....

Looks great. Must have bugs, with that screened in porch!
![]() Is there ocean access from the house? Boat dock? That'd be a must for me living anywhere that close to the ocean! G |
