Random news over- hype thread

This will go straight to parf, or fall off the thread-o-meter, however, I don't care. I, as curmudgeon, am sick and tired of news over-drama.

Everything is an "Alert" Everything is "newsflash"

Even- the weather. In my zip- there will be a snow event- perhaps including flurries.
Thank God I stocked up!

Earlier in the week I was supposed to be on "ALERT" because a royal couple went to Christmas mass. WTF?

God Bless you George Carlin.

You forgot to mention the booming crisis theme music.

BREAKING NEWS............(give me a break!)

legion 12-26-2017 07:43 PM

In Illinois, the tornado sirens sound when a tornado is headed your way. It is a warning, under no uncertain terms, to seek shelter now.

When I lived in Georgia, they'd sound the sirens to warn of thunderstorms, ice, rain, snow, or the temperature getting below freezing.

Seriously?!? It's not just going to be flurries. It's going to be "rather cloudy" too. Maybe now you get the gravity of your situation!!

I swear, some people, sheesh!

;)

LOL

City of Raleigh was dumping Brine on the highways due to a chance of flurries:rolleyes:

Bone dry outside now.

We got about 6" of snow. That's pretty manageable. It's the -5º this morning that sucks.

ckelly78z 12-27-2017 07:01 AM

I'm surprised that the weather channel hasn't named this storm like they do to all the others.

flipper35 12-27-2017 07:08 AM

Yeah, I don't mind some snow but the bitter cold sucks. It was about that cold here and a wind chill at -25*.

They also did a winter version called Sub-mageddon

Another pet peeve is when they say "We were the first to air this story. Or we were the first to be on the scene."

Who gives a rat's azz?

Blah blah blah......

Just give us the bottom line......and move on......

Yeah, we know. My buddy in Sarasota called on Christmas day, telling me of it being 80 there....He loves calling me when it's cold here.

Loved last night's Portland TV news...icy up there, so the usual footage of fender benders, abandoned cars that can't make it up hills, etc. Weather that mid west people give no thought to paralyzes Moscow by the Willamette.

sammyg2 12-27-2017 12:25 PM

In So Cal the news stations have special 1 hour shows called STORM WATCH 2017 ..... and we only get a tenth of an inch of rain.

Not surprising with so much of the economy tied up in orchards... peaches are fragile.
