Your Mom found a black powder cannon at a yard sale and bought it for you.
Pause.
Pause.
Pause some more and just think about this for a minute...

That is just about the coolest thing I've heard in a while....

I helped a buddy build a cannon. 1-11/16" bore, it shoots a golf ball or 1# lead ball (we made a mold).

The barrel is about 100#, the naval style carriage is probably another 100. On smooth ground it recoils about 3'.

Drill it out!

What could go wrong?

A buddy of mine builds bowling ball cannons. The one time I went out with him we got around 6 shots off before the cops showed up.

They were impressed.

Great video of it too.. I had a bowling ball mortar but sold it....too heavy to take anywhere ... Built a tennis ball mortar out of Stainless steel pipe nipple... I have to fill the tennis balls with water or they just blow apart.

A teacher of mine in High School was REALLY into civil war reenactment's.........full on costumes, and oh yeah she owned a 4 foot long rifled barrel cannon. The slug was a pop/beer can filled with concrete, and they shot it at bedsheets as targets hundreds of yards away for accuracy.

Got expensive to shoot it a lot, but the popcan made for a good "full metal jacket" slug.

Cool, but beer (Corona) and things that go boom, just do not go together well.

You should be following the same precautions you would around firearms.

the beer bottle is still capped in the photo, so neener neener. I put the bottle into that short clip for scale only.

Here's a few of the real civil war days. I can't imagine that that sounded and smelled like. Note all the stacked cannon balls, with fuse holes.

Awesome stunningly good restored photos:

No doubt.

Video was awesome, but the cannon was more awesomer.

What were you shooting? Shooting at?

Next video should show some targets being blasted!

Time for a craigslist search for "cannon".
