356 Model

New Pano arrived yesterday. Spotted a 356 model ad and let my buddy, who is a serious model builder, know about this 1:8 scale model. Turns out the cost is $11,000.00 and change. WHAT??? I must say that Amalgam has some very nice models if you can afford them.
He won't be adding this to his Pcar model collection.
Trying to get him to post some model photos including the Porsche engine he just built which runs with simulated spark and sound.

I have one! Been planning to make a replica of my Speedster for 30 years. Can't get away from working on the real car long enough to work on the model.
The Revell model sucks, BTW. It will need a lot of upgrading.

$11k is what I paid for my 911SC. A 1:1 model!

Not your standard model but I'm trying to understand the price. People must be buying them but who?

Saw a Ford Cobra years ago at a Hobby Shop about that size. Everything worked, doors, door latches, windows, gearbox, steering, etc., and the engine in it ran. You could drive it with radio control, the receiver and servos were in the trunk.

Ehh... there's people paying millions for a Pollock painting which to me looks like someone projectile-vomited on a canvas...

At least in this case I understand the craft / man hours in the speedster model and I like the subject matter.. But I went to the site when I saw the ad too, I was in till about $1000, so yeah, it's expensive...

people with more $ than you and I, I guess...
