I dont buy 'em even if they're not expired. It eliminates with 100% certainty that I can lose.

Told someone I understood it is more likely to be killed by and asteroid than win the lottery. She said that can't be true because people win the lottery. I said, tell that to the dinosaurs.

Worth the fantasy. I buy one every year or so. Expect to lose.

Imagine getting hit by an asteroid right after winning the lottery.

I once heard that your chances of winning are the same whether you play or not.

I always buy one when I go into the liquor store to buy a 12 pack. I always walk out a winner.

Only in the office group. I’m not gonna be the only a-hole that has to keep coming to work.

Twice a year I spend $50 for 50 draws for regular Florida lotto (6 numbers - no powerball). This gives me a chance each drawing (twice a week) for an entire year (less 2 weeks).

I only have one set of numbers so it's a buck per drawing.

To each their own but at $2/week it's a no brainer. Besides...I don't drink or smoke so how much does that save me each week? Easily $2., right?

The kicker is......I only have to 'stand in line" twice a year to buy the 2 tickets and twice a year to check the two tickets. I don't check the numbers until the 6 months is up.

I could be a lottery winner as I type this.....I'll know more after April 28th when this ticket runs it's course!

Typically your have a 1 in 30,000,000 chance of winning the lottery. Mathematically that's almost the same as not playing.

But most weeks somebody somewhere wins and we all know if you don't enter you have a 100% chance of not winning.

Another way to look at it. Do you know anybody who has won the lottery?
I know lots of people and I can't think of one person who has won anything of significance.

About 4 years ago I entered a McDonald's competition using my mobile and a code on their burger packaging.
About 5 minutes later I received a txt telling me I had won $1,000! :D

That's the ONLY reason I won't buy one. I'm absolutely sure I'd win...then BAM :)!

Ha, some friends who worked for ANZ bank did win. One girl resigned on the spot, lots of funny happy stories from this group.

Lottery office pools gone terribly wrong - Jan. 13, 2016

I know someone who has won. My little sister back in 2014. 5 of the numbers but not the Powerball number for a cool $1,000,000. $662,500 after taxes was her check.

Guess that screws me out of winning. One winner per family. Damn!
