Good news-bad news

Couldn't find my earlier post on putting my cues away because I thought the small cataracts in my left eye had become worse.

Saw the ophthalmologist today..

The good news is they haven't, so no lens replacement surgery in my future.

is something called seraus maculopathy

Off to see a retina specialist in a week.

Hey, good luck. I'll have to look up seraus maculopathy - that is before my cataracts get too bad. Sight is so important, we should all do whatever it takes to preserve it. Hope things work out well.

Best explanation I've found so far on this Brit site:

Central Serous Retinopathy - RNIB - Supporting people with sight loss

Could go away on it's own...crossing my fingers. Not related to cataracts at all.

Interesting and hopefully it will go away on its own. The eye is generally one of the most (or the most) quickly repairing organs of the body. I had a retinal tear last year. I researched the symptoms (in the net), & it supposedly went away in not too long 85% of the time. So I didn't bother going to the doc about it & it did go away - at least the symptoms did. I still have a floater going on I think is a flying insect at times.

All part of aging, yes? I'm hoping for the best. Other than pool playing gone to hell, I'm functioning pretty well...so, take it as it comes, and will see what the retina specialist says next week.

Figures I'd move on to a recreation where eyesight is paramount. Pool isn't a game of inches, but a game of a small fraction of a millimeter. Can't pinpoint the aiming spot on the object ball? You're screwed...

Get your kidneys checked. I'm sure you will pull out of this fine though.

Never take a chance with any changes in vision. Be it over a few month, days or hours. I see my ophthalmologist every 3 months over the past 22 years. I have bad eye issues.

Last winter the wife suddenly has a black stripe in her eye, overnight seem to expand, next morning it was time to call my dock. Short check and than a 60 mile emergency trip to a Retina Specialist to start the fix.

The reality is a detached retina can cause blindness from hours to days but unchecked WILL lead to blindnesss. Symptoms can be as slight as floaters sporadic as bright flashes or darkness.

Do Not Waste Time if something changes have it checked ASAP.

Enough of my PSA but after 22 years I got to say something here.

Terry

Well at least Paul is seeing a doctor about it. I probably should have - had the bright flashes & floaters. Went away in maybe four days.

Have to admit I'm nervous about this. Vision in my left eye is distorted, dim, colors off, and objects appear smaller when compared to my right eye. It's been ongoing for about a month.

Hoping the retina specialist offers a fix.
