Possible career change ?

He told me he has 11 dollars to his name. 50 years old, with a young daughter. I have no idea how he has got this far, but owns his home outright, and has a biz where he works only when he wants to . ( not very often ) .
You would think the stresses of constantly being dead broke would wear on a man, but he is the happiest guy I know . http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1515691075.jpg

How is he going to pay the bill for the oil change on his 21 window bus parked at your shop?

tadd 01-11-2018 08:27 AM

A man living life on his own terms. Very cool.

We are brought up to believe the rat race is the American dream. To bad I figured this out when I am 'boxed in'. Slow I am!

House paid off = sticking it to the man.

The End :)

flatbutt 01-11-2018 09:22 AM

home paid off equals waaay more than $11 to his name.

Amen. The older I get, the more I realize that a fancy title or big paycheck are relatively meaningless to your overall happiness.

vash 01-11-2018 10:11 AM

damn. i wonder if he pays himself with tape.

GH85Carrera 01-11-2018 10:19 AM

I sure can't live that way. If he likes it, power to him.

We are brought up with a responsibility to contribute to society more than we take.
I've never met a hippie that did that.

Don't be so quick to judge, Ive seen him loan his last $100.00 , let people live in his place for free, feed people, gift them cars, clothes, etc.
He just does not like to work

Fred - lets go in together. You can take first shift, I'll take 2nd. Or the other way around, your call.

That got me chuckling.

Note there has been more than one sign affixed to that glass.

Bless the dude and good luck to him.

I'm willing to put in some overtime if needed

I have 6 payments to go :)

I could totally live off grid, with growing/shooting my own food. Nothing Hippie about that, just hard work, and a sense of accomplishment.

LEAKYSEALS951 01-11-2018 01:23 PM

True story:

In 1973, Dave inherited $500 from his grandparents and went in as a ground floor investor of 3m scotch tape.

Not only does he have unlimited access to tape, Dave is living quite comfortably off his dividends. When he says he has 50 to his name, he means 50 million.

sammyg2 01-11-2018 01:25 PM

Life balance is very important, that's something I'm not as good at as I should be.
But responsibility should always come before leisure.
Plus hard work is it's own reward.

If the dude has a paid for house and his own business, I’m willing to bet that he is better off than the average American. And probably far happier.
