I’ll have to google dilly dilly.

It means nothing to me.

I ordered a Bud Light at a random bar in Chicago this weekend. The bartender said “Dilly Dilly” to me and I said it back and we smiled and moved on. When I was speaking the previous day, I kept a Bud Light on the podium and, at some point, held it up and said “Dilly Dilly” and half the audience lost it (while the other half was just lost).

Let’s examine what makes this commercial genius. As Americans we love art that flips class caricatures and plays with the mobility of class status. This is a signature of the national culture, an extension of the idea of freedom. We love to see the high go low and the low go high, and laugh at the irony – and the reality – of it all.

I would argue that we’ve collectively lost our sense of humor. Comedy from the 1970s and 1980s was far less concerned with being politically correct and far more concerned about just being funny and irreverent. Today people take themselves WAY too seriously. Dilly dilly!

Hear Hear! .....and Dilly Dilly!

If a man can't plop his azz on the sofa, and watch a playoff NFL game on a cold Sunday afternoon, while enduring mindless commercials on TV in the USA....

Then that's not my country anymore :)

Really why so serious!!! DILLY DILLY!!!!

86 ssinit 01-14-2018 06:53 PM

And I must be seriously messed up because my favorite commercial was the one with the guy in the Raider Christmas light sweeter. I laugh every time.

That was a funny commercial... and the thing that made it for me was when the MIL got up from the table and then that sad looking Basset Hound (also wearing a 49ers jersey) growled.

Now... to test the effectiveness of the message... what product was being advertised?

My wife and I sometimes out of the blue say dilly dilly to each other . Just a way of keeping the mood light . Let's not over analyze everything sometimes it's just to have fun .

I bet you don't like the Three Stooges either...

Dilly Dilly!

Shaun @ Tru6 01-15-2018 03:06 AM

The Three Stooges were great. I prefer Curly over Shemp. That's a real debate.
