As I ease into retirement, I MAY do some consulting. I created this website about an hour ago. It needs work. I may expand it to include other than my entertainment industry experience (I have a lot of other heavy industry experience). This is just a place holder. Give me your thoughts. I want to keep it to just a few pages. When I had a website 20 years ago, the most useful thing was a downloadable resume for lawyers desperately seeking someone with my expertise to name as an expert witness.SmileWavy

It shows he's at least bilingual. |
I agree, I plan to ease into retirement, but covering my bases. I'm not opposed to consulting if it presents itself. $5/month for a website and email.

The old mechanics at the shop hit the couch and booze then had a heart attack a couple years later.

Don't ever consult for an attorney without a retainer up front.........They are famous for not paying.......

Didn't work on iPad?

Charge LOTS of money, Hugh. You are not likely to over-estimate your hourly worth, and I suggest an hourly fee, rather than a project fee. If you overshoot it, then I guess you will have to find something else to do with your valuable time. My friend.

I'm 60. I know a lot of people who are retired or set to retire. I ask them questions. Particularly the retired ones. I ask them if retirement was a big mistake. So far, their responses are unanimous.

Here is where hughrose.com takes me.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1516082907.jpg I swear I did not look up your arrest record. :D Hopefully you will not want to do "consulting." You deserve a new life, one with new learning and new adventures. Don't take this time of your life to live in the past. |
That sounds like good advice. Do you need the money, Hugh? If not, then do you need to fill the time? I suspect the latter will not be a problem for you. Do whatever the fk you want.

I am getting this:

Your DNS hasn't propagated out, so I can't see it.

I checked-
where's the pron? ;) rjp |
site not found Hugh.
|
it went down last night.
too much interest? Russian hackers? Hugh wiped it, like with a cloth.. ;) |
Hugh,
Your site is not bad at all for being designed by a retired guy :) On mobile, the menu is not obvious, therefore a lot of your content will be missed. I recommend going to a single page format and listing all of your content on one page. Very common these days for sites with limited content. Good luck! |
Thanks Motion!
I found that same problem with my iPhone. I'll look into redesigning it. |
one more time. Single page, I'm working on the email button

just checked, it opened OK for me. Please provide feedback.

Nice!
Now it opens for me! Nice page Hugh! But go through it in detail. I am a guy that cringes when I see things like Hugh.rose@... Use lower case for all letters hugh.rose@... or use Hugh.Rose@... As it is now it looks like you made the page by using MS Word with autocorrect. Also, I think there should be a space after a comma. E, H&S. Maybe even better E, H & S Other things: Resume' Deja Vu' Make sure that you own the images! The one on the top looks like a stock photo, they tend to get very "nervous" if they don't get paid. Edit, added: don't underline text! Underlined text is recognized as a link! I know, links are not underlined anymore on most pages, but still, don't underline text. But overall a very clean and nice looking page! |

In Mother Russia, website hack YOU! :D |
Looks good though. Only critique would be to maybe re-size and inset the city-scape pic a bit. When it goes all the way to the margin, it makes you want to scroll right to "see the rest of the pic".
Maybe do 3-4 separate/smaller square pics with equal spacing. |
What Eric said. :)
My only critique is that you should lose the PDF resume. That is, the site is enough. --it sells you as someone that anyone would want to know. But the PDF resume linked makes you look a bit too old-school (out of touch) and maybe a bit needy. |
Thanks all, Holder, thanks for the formatting tip, you are 100% correct. Island, I'll think about the PDF thingie, I want Lawyers to be able to click and download a resume'. The images are stock photos from godadday.com so no licensing issues. I may load some industry specific images, but even thought I took the pics, I worked for Disney, so not sure about licensing.

Hugh... I don't have my phone with me at the moment - but make 100% sure it looks really good on mobile. I bet 80% of your traffic will be in that method.
...also - it should be really easy to contact you from the page. Look at what your "competition" is doing. Be better. |
