How do I get rid of adware on my iPhone?

On my iPhone 8, when on the internet, I get the same pop up every so often that shows I won something. If I close it, it brings up a fake amazon page. My old 4s did the same thing. Only turning off JavaScript stopped it.

I’ve cleared history and cookies. Is there anything else I can do to prevent them? No, I’m not looking at pron. I have to close the page and open a new one to get back where I was.

Stay away from click bait.

If you are getting this stuff on legit sites, your bank, national retailer's site, Pelican, that's another thing.

Typically you see it because of where you are.

It seems to be news sites but I’ll pay closer attention going forward.

News sites are often chock full of various java script and adware crap, depending upon the new site.

As stated, that sort of thing is usually due to the page, not the device. It just so happens that your device isn't automatically blocking the request. Do you possibly need to enable the ad-blocker in Safari?

I just installed an app called Adblock. For the same issue. Always get pop-ups on various forums. It’s only been one day, but so far, so good.

1.) On the browser, open a new page. 2.) Now close the page with the ad. 3.) Now open the quick app switcher (rapid double click of the home button) find and close the browser. 4.) In settings, Clear History and Website data, 5.) Restart the phone.

I was getting this type ad from numerous legit sites so I tried Opera as my browser. Seemed to eliminate the popup.

I got the same adware. I think I picked it up from Realpolitics.com which is otherwise an excellent site. I'll try Halm's suggestion.

Saw this article about it that browser hijack.

Short of it, don't click on it.

Forgot a step in my post above. Sorry for an inconvenience. Fixed it now.

I've been doing what you advised.

I'm going to try Chrome and see if that helps.

Use an adblocker app.

Which one is good? A search brought up tons.

So far, Chrome has been good. No pop ups.

Just need to import my bookmarks somehow.

I use Crystal, had good reviews, but in the year since maybe things have changed - check out reviews on App Store and search for articles comparing adblockers.

Still working well, zero ads.

A930Rocket 01-18-2018 04:58 PM

I downloaded Norton ad blocker. So far, so good.
