Don't know if this comes as a surprise, but Curb Your Enthusiasm is a TV sit-com, not a documentary or a 'reality' show. Larry plays a character involved in fictional situations. It's not real life.

I think there is a lot of improve comedy in the show that isn't scripted, and the fictional situations are funny. Pretty good for a bunch of people that are 70 years old.

Larry once said in an interview that the show is mostly improv. The writers come up with a basic outline of what drives the episode and set up the scenes, then they pretty much just wing it from there. They'll script some dialog if/when it's needed to move the story along to a different scene, but that's about it.

I read a piece recently that said most of modern television owes CYU for its success. After seeing this thread, I've started to watch from the beginning. It is excellent!

It's seriously some of the funniest stuff ever done.

-Larry hiring a hooker off the street to ride w him to Dodgers game so he can use the carpool lane. Hilarity ensues.

-Larry deciding that he wants to be a car salesman and working for one day at Hollywood Toyota. Hilarity ensues.

-The Native American landscaper curing Larry's wife's beaver problem when her gynecologist is having no success.

-Larry sneaking off to the Palestinian chicken place because their food is just too irresistible.

And on and on...the set-ups alone are the best ever but what they do w them is amazing. Sketch comedy is tough, which is basically what they are doing but in an extended format. SNL at its absolute peak was batting maybe .300. CYE is genius.

One of my top five fave shows. Funniest show I've ever seen.
