The 427 in a 65 or 66 Mustang is a death wish as the car is squirrelly. Even in a 72 Mustang it can get out of control quick.
My 69 Mach with the SCJ just squats down and runs like a scalded dog. I also am sitting on a standard bore 427 center oiler with dual quads. It came out of a 63 1/2 Galaxy. |

Ironically, the lack of availability of future spare parts caused me to bail on Ferrari ownership, too. At some point, Ferrari decided they did not want to be in the business of supplying parts for the older cars, that would be something the aftermarket could take care of. I found it annoying that certain consumables were just going to dry up and go away and decided that somebody else needed to own that problem. |

Another one was Rotor caps for Dino's. |

Yeah but the problem is the wait for the guy to make them. He has to tool up to make them so he ain't gona make one at a time. So what is a 3M car worth without a shaft and how much are you willing to pay to have one made? By now it is probably way north of 10k? As who has the know how and or patterns? |

So my query has been if a crisis hits and a Global depression sets in and parts mfg go out of biz...fairly soon the on hand parts supply would dry up and you would have to start to make do...as in CUBA or the car would be sitting by the side of the road as parts are unobtainable. So those are the ramifications at all levels of modern life of a failure.. We all have become COMPLACENT and take for granted (as being normal) the luxurious life style that we enjoy especially in the USA. |
I agree w you all the way but $10k for a part on a $3M car is insignificant. On an ordinary car, it could send it to the junkyard.
It would be a major bummer to wait a long time for a driveshaft but OTOH, no one is depending on that car for transportation. |

I'll have my admin assistant double-check ;) |
Finally got the plating done, wow, what an experience uncovering old plating and finding hidden gems underneath and then making it all as new. Clear cadmium, nickel and a little yellow cadmium. The nickel pieces turned out to be brass jewels. Ended up finishing the surface of those pieces by hand to get the right brightness. Challenges included lead solder, silver solder, white metal threaded inserts (these dissolve almost instantly in acid) and getting the right surface finish, clear cadmium being the most difficult of all plating types I do. What a great job this was.

Uncle had a 300SL and a Masarati.

For me the 275 would be my choice. It has a great look. I could never just own a car and not drive it though.
