Jeez, couple of grand more and the buyer could have had my Corolla.
(Why are these people never around when I'm selling something.) |

All Alfa's from the 50's to early 60's are fetching serious $$ these days. The 2000 Spider was fairly low production, with about 3400 built over 3 years (58-61). Plus, the body was built by Touring, not AR factory. That one appears pretty complete, and save for some surface rust, a very corrosion free chassis. Most Alfa's of that vintage appear to have been driven over from Italy, prior to restoration. When restored, potentially a $175-200K car.

That car is not too bad and will be worth it when done. They're pretty and rare, what else would make it worth it?
The one I'm saving (although this is a 66 GTV). ![]() ![]()

You are aware that early 911s are now 70-250K (T to S) right ?
Everything cool from that era tripled. That price above doesn't shock me, though I think you can buy a finished one for less than the above + resto... I'm selling my GTV next week, I'll let you know what it goes for, prepare to be surprised... (35-50 on BAT every week). |

You have to investigate what a car goes for "finished" in order for project prices to ever make sense. I'm still kicking myself for not buying Grady Clay's '68 911 project car for $80k. It was a great, dry car that needed restoration and would have been worth doing all day long.

This might be one of those threads my 3 year old son points to in 20 years and says" you guys could have bought that car for ONLY $40k?!?" Sort of like that Auto trader ad floating around from the early 80's with the cheap Ferrari or muscle car or whatever it was

It's rare and an Alfa. They've always had a strong following regardless of the "issues" with their cars... "Mini Ferrari"

Another story of old Alfa prices. I found one of these when I was in college in 1975, a garage find. Running and driving, complete but needed bodywork, paint and general restoration. It was fully mechanically rebuilt in Italy (complete documentation) and came back with an Army guy who was stationed there. It was sitting in dad's garage and had to go. I paid $700 and drove it home on the interstate at 75mph. Sold 2 yrs later for $2,500. New owner drove it home from NJ to West VA.
