70's mid engined seats
I love the style of a lot of 70's mid engined seats.
Countach, Lotus S1, etc.. But these types of seats in cars didn't seem to last. What happened? Not safe? Not comfortable? Not adjustible? I'm wanting to design a simrig for VR and am paying a lot of attention to different seat designs out there. Visually, the two mentioned have a ton of appeal to me. |

Those look like the same seats in my 914, rest of the interior looks like 1970's amerotrash

The angle of Elise, 914, and NSX seats looks to be all wrong for the more upright 911 seating position, at least to my eyes and based on the seating diagrams I've seen.
Datsun before they became Nissan had some cool racing seats, but for the narrow Japanese torso, design wise they looked similar though.

20th century seats aren't designed for 21st century wide butts.

Much higher standard of eye candy than the Lotus, but still similar in form. ![]() |

They look like modern Elise seats to me. For miata folks, the Elise seats are the upgrade to get to have good, supportive seats that get you low in the car.

Javadog, would you know what company made the original Countach seats?

I sat in an older Countach once for a few minutes. I found the seating position to be very uncomfortable very quickly.
I built a gaming chair from a mid-70's 911 seat with seat cover on it - it's not bad for X-Plane... |

The 914 seats are one piece and you can adjust the angle of the seat. I dont think I could live with those seats nowadays. 1" of foam over fiberglass. Not too comfortable.

I LOVED the seats in my old '88 911. I thought they were super comfy. My '08 Boxster S has the mostly manual (only recline is electric) sport seats, and I love those too. I'd love an office/desk chair made from either (although I'm not going to pay the several thousand dollars to buy one of the new Porsche office chairs (which are made out of the same seat as the seat in my Boxster, I believe, and include a battery for the recline).
