Vegas? Where to stay for biz trip?
I have to go to Vegas next Sunday for business. Office we need to go to is on West Sahara across from the Canyon Gate Country Club, or so it appears on the map. We'll be staying through Wednesday. Where should I watch the Super Bowl?
Since this is a business trip, should we stay on the strip, or is dealing with a rental car and mega hotels too much of a pain in the ass? Any good booking sites to get the best deal on a room if we do stay on the strip? I usually have no problems figure it out, but it seems like Vegas is unique between crazy casino deals etc. Thanks, Neil

We have avoided the strip for years. Nutz!
We stay at Red Rocks and have no reason to stray very far. Between West Sahara Bl and Charleston Bl https://redrock.sclv.com/

I stay far from the strip. There's a Hilton in Summerlin.

Echo and Rig has a small bar and TV. Great steaks and service.

Nothing like watching a big game in a sports book! Lucky for you to be there at this time. For that period (weekdays - lower rates) go big - get a room on the strip, reserve a seat at a sports book, put down $10 on your team, and enjoy!

Have stayed out at lake las vegas and enjoyed it. Last business trip stayed at the Aria. It was good, but on the strip.

Agree with folks already posted. Stay off the strip. Where I don't know...we just drive through the town. Hate the place. I pay less for a glass of wine in Del Mar with an ocean front view than some cheesy casino on the strip.

I hate that place, but have gone to conventions there and just go to Vegas since its only 3.5 hours away. Its usually a stay over for a road trip. If you haven't been there, there's no reason not to stay on the Strip just to experience the sea of people, noise, mess around in the casinos and watch the big boy lose their pay checks (I don't enjoy gambling nor do I like watching) or simply people watch from the bar. Like WDfifteen say, watch at the game and put a few bucks down just for the excitement. Just about any of the big hotels at the Strip is OK. The restaurant there are not bad. If you really enjoy and are after the pace and quiet, then stay off the strip. Go to Henderson.

Red Rock Resort is the place you want to stay as it is very close to your meeting. Sun Coast and Rampart Resort are also very close near W Charleston. Those places fit your bill very well.

I got food poisoning at a company event at Red Rock Resort about six years ago, and just typing that name out makes me nauseous to this day.
I will never ever stay on the Strip again, except for when a business trip forces me because a trade show is in one of those hotels. Lots of those places charge for parking nowadays.

I routinely stay at the Palms or Palms Place (better). Our corporate offices are on Sunset along the Southern edge of McCarran, so easy access.
It's off the strip, easy parking, good food and a nice Gym. There's a resort fee, that's a drag but rooms are so cheap this time of year it's around a hundred all in. They're remodeling the casino which keeps it quiet too, coffee shop has great food reasonable pricing. Just enough of the Pro's without too many cons.

I love going to Vegas, and if you're not going to stay on the strip, why even go…? We usually stay at the Venetian.

The Palms is now a Station owned property. They had a nice buffet but now I think they made it into the dreck that they serve at all the other Station casinos. I have come to pretty much loath buffets. There are a couple of exceptions though. Last edited by tabs; 01-29-2018 at 09:14 PM.. |

I hate the Strip with a passion. So many great places to go away from there and the best food is nowhere near the Strip. The Venetian has a few good watch stores and one good pizza place on the basement level. Otherwise, you're just dodging all the tourists holding their phones up to take photos of the ceiling and canals, like that's anything like the real Venice. Vegas cheesiness at its worst.
