It's Kart not cart. The name comes from one of the original manufacturers, an American company, Go Kart Manufacturing Co. (1958).

Now that I brought that up, there seems to be a bit of a conflict of info. The IKF says they wrote competition rules in late '57. Other articles say the IKF was born out of something called the GKCA. I was around racing karts in those days but don't remember much about the sanctioning orgs.

But, it was always karts. I first ran a McCullough Kart at age 14. Raced karts until I was 43.

M/Z, that's some cool cart history!! ;) :D

just kidding. It's cool to see you around and posting. I love your threads on the various types of work that you do, and your posts are always interesting whether they are on woodworking, windows, or language/dialects.

Zeke: Thanks for the video and memories. I was racing go-KARTS at age 14 also. Not sure of the brand name of the KART, but the engine was a brand new Mac 10-10 like in the Video..........Happy Times.......
