He played the game of his life...right on center stage...and can catch ;)! Honestly...don't recall ever hearing his name before...but isn't he a ten year vet? He needs to stay in that system and ca$h in...two great QBs on opposite ends of their careers...don't suck :)

Foles isn't going anywhere....
Don't forget Carson tore his knee up at the very end of this season. He likely won't be back by opening day. |
Foles didn't graduate HS until 2007, don't know how many years he played college ball. He could have 10 or more years left.
Foles and Brees went to the same HS, graduating 10 years apart. No other HS has produced 2 SB/MVP winning QB's. |
Yer right Matt....I don't know why I thought that...he's in his prime at 29...

I still say the Patriots might look at him as #12’s replacement after next season. Tom Brady is still killing it but I doubt he’s got more than another season in him strictly based on age (he’ll be 42 after next year). I see him coming back PISSED next season and out for blood, looking to win it all and go out on top (think about what he did after his four-game suspension which gave him and his teammates an axe to grind against Goodell in particular...)
He’s definitely not done. There are fewer things dangerous in the NFL than a Tom Brady who’s got a chip on his shoulder and something to prove to himself. That’s what we’re looking at for 2018. Might be enough to get me to actually follow it (but after all the nonsense with players acting like spoiled, disrespectful brats and kneeling during our national anthem this year I completely lost interest; when Goodell refused to penalize them, I COMPLETELY lost interest - until the postseason anyway). We’ll see I guess. The Patriots are great at building quality teams with solid players. I could easily see them making a run at Foles for the QB slot in the post-TB era, which is coming but not here yet. |
Rich, thanks for the pic. Lots of tears shed among fathers and sons in Philly. And then they went out and stole a police horse. Love my town.
Foles? he's under contract for next year for 7.9m. Interesting issue as he has value but Wentz's injury is looking to be a little more complex than a simple acl tear. Birds will likely need a qb for early season. Lurie and Roseman are good guys though, and may very well reward Nick with allowing him to decide to stay or go. I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed. What people from out of town may not know is that part of this teams unusual bond is that most of the core worship together. I make no comment about that, other than the fact that those involved draw a tremendous amount of togetherness and motivation from it. Wentz and Foles have become close friends. All of that, and the tumult of Foles experience in LA might lead him to be content to stay in Philly and be part of what looks to be a few seasons of excellence to come. |
Foles story is one of redemption.
Buzz Bissinger, "Friday Nights Lights" author & Vanity Fair writer, wrote an extremely derogatory magazine article after Foles breakout 2013 season, stating Foles would never be the leader a superbowl team needs. Claimed he was too soft. (I am waiting to see Bissinger eat those words.)
Foles was then traded to St. Louis by the pompous Chip Kelly, cast aside by the offensively system-less Jeff Fisher. Picked up by Reed in KC for 1yr then re-signed by the brilliant GM Roseman (I would love to hear his logic in signing Foles as back-up and cutting 2016 back-up Daniels) completing the journey back to Philly. Two dreadful games against Oakland and Dallas had Philly Fans panicked at our prospects with Foles. Credit Pederson he took responsibility for leading the team. The rest was three very well coached games, quarterbacked by a quietly confident and devote man. Now as far as the future, who knows; Foles has completed this journey. It is hard to imagine for such a peaceful man to feel the ego need to ask for a trade to be a starter. |
When Brees and Foles played HS football, I lived in the same town, and seeing the two now, one thing stands out with Foles that completes the athlete and man. Foles nearly lost a team mate during a game to cardiac arrest. Below is what the man is all about.

Update.
Now Brees and Foles are going head to head in the Super Dome this weekend. A place where another QB from the same High School knocked off Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. Brees 1 SB, Foles 1 SB, Ellinger 1 SB. QB factory. Ellinger might be better than both one day. He's a lot bigger. |
