Best car salesman comeback line ever!
So I'm on the phone in the initial deal on a new car at a dealership. The salesman, lets call him "Bob":
Bob: Man, I haven't sold a car all month. I'm in a slump. We need to get you in this car! Me: Dang Bob! At that rate you gonna be pushing buggys in the parking lot at a Wal Mart! Bob: I know! Y'all hiring?! Oh man, he got me on that one! |

If you dont make the car salesman cry, you simply havent tried hard enough for the extra discount.

I sold cars one summer before grad school.
Two kinds of buyers: 1) angry and combative and 2) happy, giddy with the new purchase. Guess which ones paid too much? |

Oh BTW, I did tell a couple that was on the verge of signing the deal but couldn't make up their mind. "Its a good deal. Go ahead and get it so I can call my wife and tell her we can buy $10 in groceries on this deal"
It was getting late and the dealership had closed a while ago. They laughed and signed (and yes they got a really good deal).

I wonder how many categories you could put car salesman in?
my last ordeal. we just bought a pilot last month,. told the salesman we wanted a pilot (used). long story short, the guy walked me and my wife ALL OVER the sales lot, her in heels and cold out, just randomly showing us cars.

That's because most folk don't buy what they came in to look at. They buy what captures their heart at that moment. Had a Lincoln Town Car buyer decide to get a motorcycle... Had tons of folks looking for a certain color and get something else. MOST folks pay more than what they initially said was the most they could afford. Remember that Pelican folks are NOT the average car buyer.
Now this little beauty over here, have I got a deal for you.

We have walked out on a few sales people that tried to sell us something we did not want. We have also walked out on the ones that try to sell us by payment and not the actual price.

I don't walk out. I just ask to speak to the manager and tell them I need a different salesman. If the manager is a jerk then I walk out.

Still negotiating with "Bob" on a brand new 2017 model deep discount and factory rebates. "Bob" offered to throw in the nearly $500 license plate, then his boss ran the numbers and said can only do 1/2 of the license plate. Deal cooled for several days. Now "Bob" is offering to throw in the $500 for the license plate as a discount on the price of the car and cut me a $500 check so that I can purchase the license plate. I'm scratching my head over that offer.... |

got into a big argument with the guy we actually bought the pilot from. ONLY reason I bought it is because my wife wanted it.
wife said it would cost 1K for new tires. the guy insulted her indicating that was way hi. I asked what he thought was a good tire, I looked it up, about $200 each then I said add 25-35 for mounting and balancing and I said she is pretty close to her estimate. the guy argued with me saying NO ONE charges you mounting and balancing if you buy the tires from them,. I called a local shop to him and had the guy tell him differently over the phone. the sales guy continued to argue as I told him he insulted my wife. unfortunately car lots don't need your business because someone else is coming thru the door that will pay what they are asking for a car. we spent an entire day hitting the lots looking for a car. yea you tend get angry after a day of dealing with salesman.

I can't believe people would walk into a car dealership and buy a car anymore. I haven't done that in decades. I do my research, decide what we're willing to pay and let the dealers bid. We get a good deal; they make what they need to. Everything's done on the phone or via e-mail.
Who has time for that sh *t? |

I can't believe people buy new cars period, when you can buy a low-mile 1-2 year old model with full factory warranty and save tens of thousands of $$
That said, don't buy a pizza ship. |

the first dealer we went to had a pilot we wanted but it was sold when we got there.
went across the street to another dealer, they had one that was not as nice as the one we missed out on but wanted more money. they would not deal even though we told them about the one across the street. like I said, they don't care because someone else is coming in right behind us.
