DO NOT forget.
Valentine's Day.
All the best to you for a happy day with your loved one (ones). |
My wife and I agreed that we would go to a store, pick out the most expensive card and text a picture of it to each other. Probably saved 20 bucks!
|
Two-week reminder in my work calendar that reoccurs annually. Also have them for birthdays, anniversary, mother's day, etc.

Haha, good game plan! I phoned GF at work this morning and said "Thanks, it was very sweet of you to leave flowers on my car this morning for me." LOL There was quite a pause while she thought I really had recieved flowers. Then she laughed. |

Mrs WD is going to paint the media room ceiling, I’m going to sit with my foot propped up and watch, maybe ask her to get me a snack.
True love doesn’t need a special day. |
A sure fie way to piss off Mrs5543 is to go out of my way on St. Hallmarks day and do something "romantic" because I was obligated to.
Instead I do little things for her all the time. Example, many months ago I surprised her with tickets to see her favorite comedian Seinfeld, who is coming through this area in 2 weeks. A couple of months ago Foo fighter tickets we being presold to Capitol One card holders, we were too late and missed out. I could see how crushed she was. She has no idea we have very expensive row 8 seats via stub hub. Yeah that cost me but so what you only live once. I "could" give them to her tomorrow, but that would diminish the surprise. Instead I will wait until a couple of week before the show and surprise her. Boom!! out of nowhere a big surprise, and St. Halmark did not make me do it. I love buying flowers for her during off times when people are not buying them, I always get the "What did you do" comments when purchasing them. They are perplexed when I say, nothing just thought she would like the house brightened up a little. My BIL on the other hand HAS to do the whole horse and pony show so his wife can show off on social media how awesome they are. Homey don't play that. |
Thanks!
One of the more important threads this week indeed. SmileWavy |
Dumbest. Holiday. Ever.
I was thinking about this the other day as my kids are making valentines for their classmates (nice idea), but why do we teach kids to buy into this whole thing when the reality is if we tried anything similar in the workplace we'd likely have mace shot in our eyes, get tazered, brought up on harassment charges and probably sacked? Do the safe thing instead of a card, flowers or chocolates which might "trigger" someone or cross some social line - tell someone you like, "it'd make me so happy to be able to share my V.D. with you". Much more benign. :) |
March 14 will be here before you know it:
https://countingdownto.com/countdown/steak-and-bj-day-2014-03-14-countdown-clock I also like to surprise her with flowers or a gift on a random day for no reason. I do the card thing for V-day and we will cook a nice dinner together tonight. |

I found a GREAT card for Steve a few weeks ago when I was traveling. Found it in an airport of all places. Really cool card showing a couple camping in their car, holding hands, traveling, etc. I bought it and have been holding it in my computer bag for today!
I got up nice and early and wrote a sweet note on the card. When he was done showering I gave it to him. This is how the conversation went... Me - "Good morning sweetheart!" - hand him the card along with GLASSES so he can read it. Him - "What's this?" - turns the envelope over a couple of times and begins opening it. Then he says.... "Oh that's right - today is Thanksgiving!" angela |
Went to Wej-man's yesterday - midday to purchase some flowers and a card for my wife. I've tried all the local florists, large IE delivery services and they just are not as nice or last as long. When i walked up to the flower section - observed there was only 1 other guy.
So a lot of beautiful arrangements to be had at a very reasonable prices. I asked where are all the glassy-eyed, panic stricken men? The lady replied that starts in @6-8 hours or so. Then really ramping up tomorrow. I said TOMORROW? TOMORROW is the day! - She said I know that but apparently a lot of men don't............................ |
Well, guess it's time for the annual posting of Jerry Masterson's column.....SmileWavy

You do all realize that Valentines day abbreviates to VD, right?
Coincidence? I think not. |

Not sure how I did... had FTD deliver flowers to her office (extra brownie points for all the ladies in the office seeing the flowers on her desk) and we have cats and cats eat flowers therefore we cannot have flowers at home. However one of the ladies here at work has a florist business on the side and is selling red rose bouquets for $20-$40. Also stopped by the supermarket to pick up her Rx... they had chocolate dipped strawberries... I picked up her Rx because she was at the gym... she gets home from the gym and I hand her a huge chocolate dipped strawberry  |
