computer scam
this screen popped up on a friends computer.
I called the number at the bottom and it has been disconnected. she has been getting calls from "Microsoft". my concern is how did they get her number? I fear there may be some kind of "logging" virus that is capturing her keystrokes. |

Mrs WD got something similar one morning last week. She went into a panic and called the number before talking to me about it. The person she spoke to told her her computer had been infected with the Zeus Trojan Horse and wanted to sell her a scrubbing app for something like $200. I overheard her talking to the guy and finally got her to hang up. We did a little research. Zeus is apparently real, but also not a threat to her MacBook. This outfit is randomly sending out emails claiming to know your computer has been compromised.

The calls from “Microsoft” and the pop up are coincidental non related events.
They don’t have her number, it’s random robocalls. |
Do u think she is safe using a CC on her computer.

Like calling a number on a random pop up or actually talking to “Microsoft” when they call. Run some scans using Malwarebytes or equivalent and get on with the business of life. |
I would never even think of calling a number on any pop up ever, even on a website I intended to visit. No good can come of it.
