Where to buy Gulf Shrimp?

I miss Gulf Shrimp. The pacific shrimp are just not the same and the farm raised stuff has me scared (raised in sewage etc.)

I can't reliably get Gulf Shrimp in California and they sometimes are of questionable quality or labeling when I see them (at Ranch 99). I want to order them online. Is anyone ordering them online? Ideally, I'd like to get a contact for a shrimp company in Louisiana that sells direct, not some re-seller. Frozen is fine, relatively large quantities okay and of course HEAD ON!

Can you recommend a company?

Thanks!

George

Order White Gulf Shrimp Online | Louisiana Crawfish Company

I never tried this place. I've gotten them at Stew Leonards a few times when they get them in, but never tried to order them on line. Living in Connecticut, i used to get Maine shrimp from a guy who used to drive down in a small truck and park on the side of the road. Small, but great tasting. It's been almost 4 years that he hasn't been down due to Maine closing down or restricting the amount of shrimp fishing allowed.

Here you go - have been ordering from them for years.

Tonys Seafood in Baton Rouge. The best way to get them is to be at the dock and off load them direct into the ice chest. The cheapest way is to get then from the dock but those guys don't have websites! That's how we get them. Tonys is your best bet and they also have a large variety of seafood.

4 big Gulf shrimp in brown butter. Wonderful lunch. Huge difference in taste between wild and farm raised shrimp which are only a sauce delivery vehicle.

Wegman's and Whole Foods seem to have it pretty reliably around here

Couple of local upscale fish markets too.

Chilean/Argentine Patagonian Red/Pink shrimp blows everything else out of the water, but tastes more like lobster than shrimp.

Chilean shrimp has a firmer texture, exquisite flavor and amazing coloring which are all superior to Oregon and Canadian shrimp.

When ordering online how would you know you getting the real thing vs the farm raised sewage shrimp.
The op mentioned.

I can promise you on this. Order from Tonys seafood in Baton Rouge. He is a big advocate for using ONLY Louisiana and Gulf products.
