US Women take olympic hockey Gold!
In what is sure to be remembered as an epic thriller USA was finally finally able to defeat Canada in a tough match that went the regulation 60 minutes, followed by 20 minutes of 4 on 4 and then a shootout. Holy crap what a match! I wonder if we might get the women to coach our men?
BTW the bronze medal winner Finland has a 44 year old woman on the team, and she skated the most ice time on their whole team!

Shoot-outs are a miserable way to end a playoff or medal game. Regardless, the Canada-US competition in Women's Hockey is one of the best rivalries of all time, in any sport.

Very happy to see the U.S. women win this one . They worked hard and earned it .

Sounds like the Canadian women were outworked on this game by a strong team from the USA. The game had started a bit too late for me to watch live.
Like Zoo has said, I hate to see such an important game settled by a shoot out but that is what the international game is. Congrats to a very deserving US women's team.

I once heard a woman figure skater say "I didn't lose the gold, I won the silver". In my cynical way I think that was whistling past the graveyard but good for her if she believed it.
However I can only imagine the gut punch the Canadian women felt even though we here have plenty of experience with that feeling. Particularly at the hands of the Canadian women! I can easily believe removing the medal was her way of saying "this isn't good enough for me! I need to do better!". I have no issue with that attitude. She didn't throw it down or refuse to walk the handshake line. In fact these two teams have always shown great respect for each other and the sport (some minor trash talk not withstanding). I say Bravo to the ladies of Canada and USA.
