Netflix. - Ugly Delicious.

What a great food show! David Chang. He is a great communicator. ( and surrounds himself with other great communicators)

He hits on topics I never thought about. Fried chicken and racism. In his fried rice episode, he said a sentence i’ve Rarely said out loud. Blew me away, and made me think about my youth. And this is a damn food show!

Food stereotypes. I friggen learned something.

Great great show.

I binged the first half of the series and really enjoy the food component but I must admit I’m sick and tired of hearing about what terrible, uncultured thieves white people are.

Fried chicken is not racist. Now or ever. It’s universal. As he selectively admitted, unless he was in the presence of black americans.

David Chang professes over and over in the first half of the series about how tired he is of stereotypes and cliche and tradition and then the second half he goes off on how tradition is the property of certain cultures and races and shouldn’t be appropriated or sullied by outsiders. It’s philosophically inconsistent and hypocritical.

Was gonna Check that out this weekend

Check out Sombody Feed Phil also on Netflix. Not a cooking show but definitely a food show with travel mixed in, similar to Bourdain’s show which I also love. Had no idea who this Phil guy was so I wasn’t sure about it at first. He’s the creator of everyone loves Raymond and definitely is passionate about food

I really like the show. The dumpling episode was terrific, set up as a battle between Italian and Asian food and then showing the commonalities of the culture and cuisine but also their differences.
