Being left-handed; i知 Getting a taste.

Wow. It痴 tough!

I知 trying to buy a new compound hunting bow. I want to go left handed to take advantage of my left eye dominance. Plus, my left eye is damn near bionic compared to my right.

I was lefty as a kid. For pure parental torture, my mom forced me to be righty. (Glad I知 not gay!) :D

What a pain to be left handed! Trying to find a specific bow, in lefty is tough!

Oh well, I知 not blind to the fact that going righty has made things easier.

We also have issues finding circular saws, sitting in attached desks/chairs, using calligraphy pens, writing without getting ink on our hands, using pens at the bank that are attached to chains being too short to reach, flipping through magazines and books backwards, using scissors that hurt our thumbs because they're tapered to righties, and I could go on and on. But we get used to it and make do.

I am left handed with a right dominant eye. I shoot naturally and comfortably righty. However if I really need to hit the target? Lefty is more accurate.

Go figure.

i bought a left handed bolt action. took forever to find the one i wanted.
the problem is i learned to shoot with a regular one.

it ~still~ isn't comfortable - i just got used to taking my hand away from the trigger i guess...

I tried it with my left hand once.

It was strange.

Being left-dominant in a right-dominate world has turned me pretty much ambidextrous.

No complaints at all.

Same here. I use right handed golf clubs and scissors. Can't do either of those lefty to save my life.

Did you know we (lefties) can write with both hands at the same time? Backward with left hand forward with right. A mirror image. Righties can't do it.

When I was young in the late 1940's being left handed was a HUGE no-no so my folks forced me to stop doing things left handed and switch to right handed. As noted above I have become ambidextrous so many things can be done with either hand.

At a gun show several years ago a company was selling a slide mechanism for a Glock that produced a laser onto a large screen that read your shots and hits. I tried the moving carnival type animals right handed and then re-did the same thing left handed and the score was within 1 point! The guys standing behind me were wide eyed.

With a little practice you can write mirror image at the same time right or left handed. Am a righty. Can write my first name with my left hand while righting my last name with my right. Took lots of practice and makes my brain hurt to do it.

I thought I was the only one who could do that! My righty mirror image writing is ugly, but I can write that way about 50% as fast as lefty normal.

I had to learn how to ride a bike using a right-handed bike, it sucked.

True!
I figured this out myself, years ago. Great party trick.

There are only 2 things that are natural to a lefty: flushing a toilet and driving.

mattdavis11 02-22-2018 09:33 PM

Being ambidextrous is one thing, but this goes a bit too far. I call BS, although I can golf both sides of the ball.

cabmandone 02-23-2018 02:32 AM

I'm left handed as is my dad and one of my brothers. Dad and brother both write with their left hand I use my right. Dad always says that everyone is born left handed but only the chosen few stay that way. My first set of golf clubs were right handers and the first compound bow I shot was for right handers. I found out I suck at golf regardless which side I hit the ball from but I could shoot the bow pretty well.

Vash, I am also a left handed archer. I bought what we in England call an American Flatbow, but you call a longbow, from KG Archery (KGARCHERY.COM- NO AFFILIATION). They will custom build for you in a few days anything from their range and they have everything from takedown recurves to English longbows, in whatever draw weight that you want. Quality is superb, and price isnt too high (my bow was under 」200, about $260 currently). They will ship abroad.

Me too decades ago...ain't never been right since...but at least I can still see :)

stuartj 02-23-2018 03:51 AM

Its always fascinated me, this topic. I'm right handed, but I play snooker, shoot, bow and surf left handed. Shot some clays recently and found myself shooting right handed. I put this down to deteriorating eyesight, seems right eye is now stronger. There are lefty guitars, drum kits, guns bows. But no left handed pianos, or (I think) saxes, tubas, clarinets, computer keyboards, playstations......

wswartzwel 02-23-2018 04:55 AM

I am Left handed but shoot right handed. Have you ever considered Traditional Archery? I had a guy in Colorado make me a custom takedown recurve that is a joy to shoot. Takes a bit of commitment to practice shooting without sights but once you get the hang of it they are very accurate and add a bit more excitement to taking game.
