Ball Park Cost for a Block Wall
 

I want to replace a fence with blockwall. Wanting simple, plain, 6" deep x 6' tall blockwall.

Considering doing this myself but this may be over my head, 60' one side, right angle and space for a gate.

I'm wondering what kind of price per foot I sould expect to have this built.

Around here I think it's about $20 a linear foot (which is typically up to 5-6 ft. tall).

If you are permitting it, go the County's website and download the specs for your wall. In this County, the specs are different for walls up to 3' and those over 3'. They will call for a concrete, steel reinforced footing probably at least two feet wide by 6 inches to a foot deep. Then you can estimate the number of blocks and mortar along with the footing. I joined the pro desk at H.D. and you could probably take your dimensions there & get an estimate. They might even be familiar with the code requirements. I found their prices to be a lot lower than other places. You might be able to get some referrals to contractors there too. I tried local brick & block companies and Lowes, etc. and found H.D. to be significantly lower in cost.

Well, that depends? How much soil is it holding up and how tall, like Merv said. Its usually 70-85 bucks per foot, that's with footing and steel. It also depends on how deep and wide the footing spec by the engineer? How difficult is it to get equipment to the location to dig if its deep.

This is a simple backyard fence and will not be retaining anything. My driveway is in the back so there is direct access to the area being fenced (in fact, it's the driveway fence). I haven't measured yet but the total legnth will be slightly less than 100ft. I'm in the preplanning phase at this point.

$20-30 a linear foot here but that's for walls less than 4' tall. Anything taller (even without retaining anything) requires engineering, permits and approval of the neighbors and city. Permits and approvals are cheap. Engineering for a wall I wanted cost more than the wall itself so I went with a fence instead.

Is there a reason that you want a block wall? Like Darkshdw wrote, it will require a permit. That should entail engineering drawings. That 70 bucks a lin' is pretty close depending who's doing the work. Sounds pretty simple. Don't just want a wooden fence? Much cheaper.

At 100', byt the time you get done along with trash / dirt hauling and clean-up. it will run you close to 9000 bucks. That's without drawings, permits. I assume its 6'?

What color are ya gonna paint it....
