Calling Knoxville Pelicans - anyone know real estate?
Long story, but bride will be in Knoxville, TN for a weekend in October for another visit. We've been there and thought a bit about it as a retirement location and/or real estate investment location. Not ready to do anything and still in the brainstorming and fact gathering stage, so don't want to waste someone's time when we're only window shopping, but it would be really helpful to have a local real estate professional to talk to. If you or someone you know would fit the bill, please let me know. Could be as simple as getting together for a bite or a beverage.
Thanks all! Kevin

If you do decide to spontaneously move from California to Tennessee..Rent cheap!
(but not too cheap. There is AirBnB/Universities/etc for short term.) For a year or more. Meanwhile you learn about the area..... Where the prime real estate and established wealth are located. Where the 'no-go' 'Oh no, I'm gonna die tonight if I drive further' areas are located. Where the freeways, hot spots, really good desired by all schools, parks, and everything else is located. You hear things. Don't ever bite the easy worm as a fish. Anything lost in real estate can always be gained a block over. Then you establish a generalized idea of the area. But things locally can always change drastically with the general economy. Talk to the smartest people you can find!!! You want to find a nice stable location. House with good bones but only a little paint needed. Look much.Ask many questions with saying anything about your personal life. It's all part of the business. They are not your best friend. Bite little. Last edited by john70t; 09-28-2017 at 05:43 PM.. |

If you're interested in the west Knoxville area, I can probably give some pointers. I'm in Farragut. We bought a new (40 year old) house this year after looking at houses in the Farragut area for about 2 years. We used a realtor (who is actually a friend of ours) who might be able to also help out some.

Try this one. She is married to a HS friend of mine and I used her to sell my father's home.

Thanks - Oak Ridge is a little far north and west than we were looking for. Will keep the contact in mind if that quadrant becomes more interesting.

Figured after asking, I should circle back to let the assembled Pelican horde know that we found someone who worked out very well. We've locked away a little slice of heaven. If all the stars align, we'll be regulars in Neyland in a few years...
Amy King worked out very well for us. She's based in Maryville. Amy King 865-983-0011 office 865-388-8341 cell amykingrealtor@gmail.com https://www.realtyexecutives.com/agents/amy-king

Welcome to Tennessee. It is a big change from California. I left Socal and do not miss it one bit.
Enjoy your freedom. Dave |

If you're going to be a local, need to work on your pronunciation. It's Murvulle. And said like you have a couple cans of chaw in your mouth.

We'll be west and a little south of Murville. Yes, we've got the memo on how to say it. We're quite pleased. In case you need any more, my bride spent the day glued to the internet to follow the big jumbotron saga. She's ALL in. Neither of us are CA natives - have had some fun while here but... Don't worry - we'll scrape off the west coast dust before making the move.

Thats a beautiful area. My wife and I were looking to relocate there a few years back. The wife sister has a cabin in Townsend where we go every summer. We love the Maryville area, and the bbq place in the old gas station near the university. Congratulations your new home !

I'm in Farragut right near the Loudon County line. Get ready to "embrace the orange". ![]()

My wife's uncle had a place just outside of Murville/Townsend a few years back. We stayed in his rural garage apartment a few nights out in the country with a view of the mountains. He was about 5 miles from the entrance of "Cades Cove" in the Natonal Park.

Been there, done that, got the Deals Gap t-shirt. Enjoyable, but looking forward to doing more exploring. The final clincher for my bride was the run through the mountains to and from Asheville. The chance to have those kinds of roads in our backyard was a big selling point.
