This PTO coupler looks sketchy to me

https://tractorptolink.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1IiVxa7e2QIVRrFPCh2SiggKEAEYASA AEgLUhfD_BwE&v=7516fd43adaa

I grew up using PTO couplers that were held in place by either a through bolt or a clamping bolt. They were easy to use and I never had a problem with them. Modern sliding collar couplers are a pain because you have to simultaneously push and pull on it. There has to be a better way, but I don’t think this is it.

Never occurred to me it was a problem. My PTO's don't take any time at all to couple/uncouple. That looks fine for something not too heavy duty but not more than that.

My PTO isn't a $400 problem either...

Hooking up the belly mower on my JD955 is a beotch because of the short PTO driveshaft that has the spring loaded pull mechanism that must be pulled, while you push the shaft on the splines, all while on your back between the rear tire, and the mower deck. I usually make my 18 YO son do it now.

That PTO whatchagiggy is a lot cheaper than a 18 YO son and doesn't talk back too much.

Yeah, hate them. The least moisture and they seize. I keep a big can of Kroil or the like handy. And the pull and twist while pushing is awkward. Not nearly as bad as the JD belly mower one mentioned above, had one of those for 10 years, and it was a pain, you only had to pull and push at the same time but on your back under the compact tractor. Blech.

I may have to take one for the team and try it out.

Thanks for the link.

I would never put one on a tractor without live PTO. Even then it doesn’t look very secure. If I understand correctly a single bolt keeps it together in an override situation.
