crown stapler vs brad nailer

Don't really need either... but...
Just bought one of those 18 volt tool kits on fathers day sale (1/2" drill, 5 1/2" circular saw, small sawzall, flashlight, two batteries, and a charger)

Now of course they have a series of tools that all fit the same 18 volt battery... amazingly the last time I was at HD they had the brad nailer sitting out on display... blam, blam, blam... oooooh... I need one of these! (don't know why, I don't do that much carpentry...but if I had one of these I might!)

They have the same configuration tool that is a crown stapler... crown stapler seems like a more useful tool.

If you were going to buy one (if you needed it or not) which would you go for?

I think in your case, the 1/4" crown stapler would be the better tool...
Then get the brad nailer, then the pin nailer then the framing nailer.

I wouldn't buy either until I had a project that required me to own one or the other. Then I would buy the appropriate tool for the job.

A crown stapler is not usually good for stapling. It is a nailer that shoots staple shaped nails, and sinks them. Some may be adjustable for depth. A stapler is good for stapling, and they make pneumatic and electrical versions. A brad nailer shoots a small nail, Some will shoot a nail of up to 2 inches. For as yet undecided building projects, it would be my first choice, and I would make sure it shot up to 2 inch nails, not 1 1/2.

These are two tools I make a living with, an 18ga brad nailer is used for where minimizing the visual impact of the fastener is more important than holding power. The narrow crown is used more for assembly of cabinet boxes, jigs and any other area where the "excavation" caused by the staple isn't an eye sore. Cheers

Have just the same issue at the moment Checking non-commercial guidance on best brad nailers here and currently tend to DEWALT DWFP12231, as it is pneumatic, lightweight and rather affordable.
