Do you mind if I smoke? No, do you mind if I fart?

Was my standard reply for years.

I used to say a fart would smell better than that to obnoxious restaurant smokers.

I live in California. One good thing about living here (yes, there are some good things) is that almost nobody smokes anymore. It's very noticeable when I visit other states and everyone smokes.

Ed Norton: Ralph, do you mind if I smoke?
Cramden: I don't care if you burn!

Not tobacco. Marijuana? Lord yes!

I've watched it decline over my lifetime....significantly. I'd bet way more folks here smoke weed than tobacco these daze...been that way for a long time. Don't see many puffing cigs, but I don't get out much...YMMV.

what gets me is a smoker will put their cigarette out when THEIR food comes, why don't they put it out when MY food comes.

most restaurants are no smoking now, our issue is perfumes. we allergic to most of it and I DO NOT what to smell what ever cheap crap someone else thinks smells good.
I guy walked past me in a restaurant this week, he stunk up the entire room.

I've never smoked. Never any tobacco. Never any "other" substances either. But I've never understood the revulsion people have for cigarette smoke these days. Never bothered me to smell it. Now find it a little nostalgic when I get a whiff of cigarette smoke. Reminds me of grandpa, and the little coffe shop he'd take me and my brother too when we were little tykes. I'd get an oatmeal cookie and a bottle of 7-up, and he'd proudly introduce us to all his friends, who, to a man, were sitting around and puffing away. Of course I am fully aware the cigarettes killed him (emphysema). Likely why I never touched one.

You would understand..if you were a smoker at some time.
I don't know why..but it affects those who have quit, more than never-smokers.

Tobacco doesn't bother me but we are planing a trip to Vegas the end of the month and my wife will not be amused (and she picked the location... apparently forgot smoking is rampant there.)

Despite the rant posted here recently I hardly ever smell it here (not applicable if you are at a rock concert). ;)

Still have his albums from the '70s. Listened to them so much I can still recite most of the bits. Played them for my kids several years ago and they cracked up just like my friends and I did back in the day.
