spam attack on my ipad.
i went on a mtn biking forum last night to check trail conditions.
as soon as i open the local NorCAL subforum...boom. i get a pop up window that is made to look like Comcast, and i won $10,000. first i dont have comcast so i am not a lucky winner. total bogus scam. there is a "close" button on the window, and i suspect i crack open pandora's box if i push it. i close the window from the top toolbar. i would expect this from a porn site, but a mtn bike forum..is nothing sacred? what's my gameplan? any strategy? load up a spam blocker? |
I usually double click on the on/off button then swipe up to close the window. Maybe it's not an o/o button. It's the one on the right (or bottom) it might be called the 'home' button.

Switch your browser to Opera.

Its a spam-ad, nothing more. They are old.

Take it to the genius bar at the Apple store and they will remove the malware.

A site that does not vet the advertisers they accept. Typical behavior for click bait sites. Not to say the site he hit is click bait, they are just lazy and are not paying attention. |
I didn't note that it was only from that one site. My mistake.
