Put Together Your Own Movies from YouTube

The movie thread got me to thinking about making up instructions on how I create movies, usually 1 1/2 hours long from YouTube and watch them whenever I want. I do not save any that say do not copy or save and I do not modify the movies except to put several together. Here's how I do it. You will need a software program to same YouTube videos in a portable format like MKV and I use iTube Studio, it is cheap and free to try out. You start this program, then start the YouTube video and move over to iTube and say to save URL. It will save much faster than the video plays. I usually grab several dozen to make several 1 1/2 HR MKV files.

Next assemble the downloaded videos with a program such as I use called AVS Video Editor (whole package is available) and all you do is drag and drop into the time line, press "produce" and let it run. Name the completed what you want.

Two ways to watch the movie(s), first connect the flat screen via network to your computer and go to the proper directory. A safer way is to but a 1TB external drive, copy the movie(s) and connect by HDMI. Most new flat screen/smart TV sets have 2 or 3 HDMI inputs. Peruse to the directory where you saved the movies to and select one.

If you have to modify the format download and use a freeware program called "HandBrake" which has various makers required formats. You can easily plug the hard drive into a flat screen in the "man cave" or even the bedroom. This allows creating movies of other interests you might have such as model trains, real trains, antique muzzle loading rifles, RC air craft, ETC, ETC.

I have free software that allows me to download YT vids and convert into MP3 files. I tried to do the same to a video file but couldn't figure out why it wouldn't go into a folder. I'm not that tech savvy so takes me longer to figure things out.

Mainly I wanted to download sports highlights with crappy rap soundtracks and edit them with better music - like some AC/DC or Van Halen.

I used to get a lot of the same issues from my COMPUTER SCIENCE STUDENTS......whoa made me figure they would work at Best But or Frys or ????. All 3 of those software packages have great online tutorials with screen shots that tell you how to do things. One thing to have to set up is where the downloaded YouTube files go and I always write it down. The assembled file works faster if you have a second drive so you are not reading and writing on the same drive which slows things. The AVS Video Editor allows you to add your own songs (MP3 usually) and/or strip out any sound track.
