Stuttgart - Factory Tour - what else is a must-see

My son has an AIAD in Stuttgart this summer and will be spending a few weeks there. Being a big Porsche fan, the Factory Tour is a given. Is there anything else in particular that he should make sure he gets to see while he’s over there? Porsche-related and otherwise. TIA
Ken

He can see the Porsche Museum the same day as the tour. Be sure to book the tour in advance. The Mercedes factory tour is also neat to see and The Mercedes Museum is an absolute must (I think it's better than the Porsche Museum).

Outside of that, it will be summer time, which means all of the biergartens will be open. If he has an opportunity, the Rathaus (city hall) downtown has a perpetually moving elevator that is a hoot to ride.

There is a hill commonly called "rubble hill" that is interesting to visit. It's real name is the Birkenkopf and it is built from rubble that the Allied forces deposited there after the war. It's easiest to get to by car, although I believe there is a bus stop nearby. It is quite interesting to see and offers panoramic views of the city and region.

Speaking of panoramic views, you can go up the Fernsehturm (TV antenna), which is the highest structure on the highest hill in town. It's cool but freaks me out because I swear you can feel it move. It has an observation deck and a cafe up high.

How long is he here and what will he have for transportation. He can do more or less depending on these two factors. If he has time, there is quite a bit to do outside of Stuttgart.

I've lived here for little more than a year, so we have spent quite a bit of time exploring our surroundings.

EDIT:

I just Googled AIAD... We are here for related industries ;) PM me if you'd like more information or have details about where he is going.

There is a vacation time there and the museum will close for a good while. Forgot when exactly that is.

Drive down to Pfaffenhausen and visit the Ruf shop, stop in Ulm on the way. Then drive down to Gmuend and see the real original Porsche factory. Stop in Salzburg along the way.

Be sure to check out the Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim.

Tons of great stuff. Hit the Mercedes museum in Stuttgart. It is marvelous. Big +1 on Sinsheim. Technic Museum Speyer is worth a stop too.

Don't know how far your travel orbit is, but Hohenzolleren Castle is an hour south or so. Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a walled city (touristy, but worth a visit).

A run along the Mosel or Rhine is a winner in nice weather. Plenty of great small towns and overlooks and castle ruins at easy reach.

Visit Solitude , the old rscing circuit. Its 20 mins south of Stuttgart, have a coffee/beer in the Glemsheck Hotel on the corner with the same name and see the old race photos on the wall. Ask to see their photo album. Drive the circuit if you have a car, it must have been very fast in an F2 car in the 60s. I believe there's a revival event held now,

I was there in November and the museum is a must. I also rented a 911 GTS for an hour from Porsche Drive at the museum. Cost was 125 Euros and the autobahn is a few minutes away. You get it for 1 hour and up to 100 km. I had it up to 225km\h (140 mph). When I returned it, they said no one had ever put on over 100 km in an hour, I put on 108!

You can rent any P-car model for 1 hour to a week:
