Arthritis- cazacin or bengay?

Or other suggestions for joint pain. Almost constant.

Which joints? How far gone, etc. Doc involved?

I am a former expert at this.

Subscribed. Anything to relieve the chronic hip pain until I can finagle a new part...

Aleve - 12 hour. You can triple the dosage for short periods if needed.
Tylenol PM if you're losing sleep.

Capsaicin and BenGay are counter irritants and while they can draw blood to the affected joint they aren't particularly anti-inflammatory IIRC. I imagine they will help with mild pain but the inflammation needs to be reduced. However I'm no doctor just a sufferer and I use ice/aspirin mostly.

Injury or wear and tear?

Nothing applied topically will provide deep relief.

I did not take any pain medication for fear of addiction...even at the apex of my hip being bone on bone I, with blooms of arthritis on the X-ray, did not.

I had my hip replaced and the relief was extraordinary...years of cortisone shots (that work) to get me to my late 50's so I could get the hip - my older sister is a Doc and recommended holding out as long as possible. I found the best guy on the East Coast and the procedure was great.

I have had multiple shoulder separations and dislocations. Arthritis set in my early 40's, very painful. I had that fixed by Navy Docs: they did not f it up, thank god.

So, get good intel on what is wrong and do not be afraid to have surgery.

I did pain management for years. Better to fix rather than treat.

I am 61 and can walk, jog and do 45 minutes on the Elliptical without so much as a wince.

My left shoulder is pretty much demolished. Was broken a couple times over the years and now frozen with major arthritis. None of the OTC stuff has helped and a typical cortisone shot from the ortho doc only provides moderate relief for a few weeks. He was able to clear up my elbow tendonitis with a cort shot and simple brace that applied pressure point on my arm. Agree with Paul that you should get a doc involved - if not already.

My only option is a shoulder replacement but I'm worried it will go badly and I'll end up in worse shape.

My big problem is that I have/had a pathological fear of doctors and hospitals for reasons I cannot pin point. No idea.

What changed my life was being hit by a car on my way to baseball practice in college. I was 19 years-old and landed in the OR for the first time in my life.

I lost nearly 3/4 of an inch off my left leg, my foot was broken into many pieces, etc.

I embraced the regime, got better, and moved on. Just like I did in HS with the shoulder issue...just do it, right?

The onus of a body working at a tilt became serious in my late 40's. I was a Navy pilot so I needed to kept the pain under wraps. I did.

I tried everything, from acupuncture to topicals, to direct shots...I was a Junkie to every Australian Cream and money back guarantee on the tube. We used my wife's insurance to stay off the Navy Medical grid...I got my first long term pain lessening injections from her policy.

Let me repeat: There was not an opportunity to try any remedy, physical therapy or non-addicting drug I didn't try. When I finally got over my fear of surgery, the best known hip guy I could find told me I was too far gone - I needed Star Hip Command.

I returned to The Johns Hopkins many years after getting a graduate degree to get the surgery.

I write all this to inform you that don't do what I did, don't avoid finding out what is wrong and, with a second opinion, getting the joints fixed.

Constant pain at our age needs attention. Good luck.

I don't think I am overplaying this. Find out what is wrong and why.

Ok. I live in Oregon. Lots of marijuana stuff here. I know several who swear by CBD. No personal experience. Not supposed to be psychoactive.

I have a lot of arthritis, I am on celebrex which really helped when I first started taking it 10 years ago, now i'm thinking it's not as effective or I'm a lot worst. I've had a shoulder replacement about a year and a half ago when I was 54 years old. still pain, but its a different pain than it was before. But I can sleep on my left side now which I had not done in over 8 years. I'm to the point where I just hurt all the time and just live with it.

I hear you. There doesn’t seem to be a solution. The pain saps the energy right out of me. I used to be able to do physical work 12 hours, now I start at 9 and exhausted by 3. If I could become bionic like Paul they would have to replace both my feet, my left hand, my hips, and my back.
Mrs WD is getting used to finding things that normally go on the floor on chairs, counters, the bed, tops of dressers. I do what it takes NOT to have to bend over to pick something up.

Boy howdy! For me high shelves are a drag too. I no longer have full rotation of my shoulders. Wear and tear is a beotch.
