I haven't work there myself, but I know people in purchasing, inventory control, and production that are all looking for other jobs. Maybe other departments are better, but glass door reviews aren't great either. Yes I'm in Colorado Springs.

sending a pm

at this point, I guess I should ask any members here in colorado springs, how do you like it?

Pretty decent place to live/work?

thanks,

~Chris

I lived in Colorado Springs for 9 years and thoroughly enjoyed it was one of the happiest times in my life.

The town is small enough to get around and yet large enough that it has all the conveniences. It is also a very safe and the winters very gentle. So much to see and do if you head north, south and of course west to the Mountains.

My only gripe is that house prices are extremely high and professional employment opportunities are limited - which is why I left.

I miss living there dearly, so much so that I am considering buying a small vacation place there.

I lived there for 8 years in the 90's, and echo everything slow&rusty said. I miss it every single day. I worked near Garden of the Gods, but lived "up the hill".

Thanks John!

Garden of the Gods used to be a "hopping" mini Silicone Valley with Intel and various cell phone tech centers in the late '90s early 2000s, now its all changed with different businesses.

It was kind of eerie reading your post, Yasin...I had to double check to make sure I had not written it! We go to Colorado frequently, and Colorado Springs has changed significantly since the 90's, but some of the old places are still there, and I still get the same feeling. Great place to live.

I have not really looked at housing prices. Admittedly, I would buy something up in the mountains now, for sure. I lived in Woodland Park for awhile, and later ended up building a custom log home on 13 acres in Divide. I sold it for practically nothing in the late 90's, and would give anything (almost) to have it back.

Ahhh.....memories. Sorry for the sidetrack, OP, but as you can tell, Yasin and I are fans!

Pikes Peak Hill Climb.😁
Plus the Porsche dealership there is pretty amazing. Usually have a Singer on the floor plus they have a separate building just for some really nice classic German cars.

+ 1 on dealership! Stopped in recently on my way to Woodland Park then on to Summit for some skiing. Damn, they had some nice classics, a pair of Singers and a 918.

John - Haha! For sure, its nice reminiscing with friends who can appreciate and relate to the experience. Woodland Park is all grown up now, Divide is still quiet and dodging commercialism and population growth. 13 acres there would be spectacular.

Apparently lots of families who can't afford Denver are moving south to COS and that's a reason for the increase in home prices.

When I moved there in 2000 and sold my first house in 2006, I was shocked at how much that home went up in value, the second house not so much but that's ok and its life.

Funny side story, when I moved there from the northeast I was overweight and just with the active healthy lifestyle was able to loose near 40 lbs in less than 2 years, that in itself was worth the move, plus this view from my living room:

That is indeed another plus that I didn't mention. In fact, I bought my current car (996 GT3) there....flew in from Kansas City and drove it home. They are enthusiasts, and maintain an inventory of great cars.

I bought my 996TT there as well.

chrisf 04-10-2018 02:57 AM

guys, i appreciate all the post and info.

Housing seems to be getting up there, even in just the past 2-3 years, it seems like home prices have gone up about 25%!

I wish I started thinking about this 5 years ago!
