Craigslist temptation of the week ....
Another car I don't need and won't buy, but still tempted ....
At that price (and spelling) it's prolly a scam anyhow. Quote:

WOW WOW WOW!
(Yes, it is a scam) But WOW! |
|
I peruse CL ads for motorcycles all the time. I’m amazed at how many are at ridiculously low prices and immediately assume all are scams. On rare cases (usually involving alcohol), I’ll inquire via the CL email system and get no response.
I just don’t get it. |
I'm usually looking at CL for cameras or lenses attached to cameras.

You miss 100% of the ones you don’t swing at. I’ve responded to a bunch of “obvious” scams. And one time in ten it’s a real bargain. Dealership closed and listed this for $50. It’s the size of a garage door. But it’s mine now. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1522365419.jpg |

Two words, man: TEST DRIVE. https://media.giphy.com/media/eFZRQkBg0ioJa/giphy.gif |
My brother and i chopped a square back in high school and did the panel van look, PITA getting that roof smooth. Had to cut up two other square back roofs (from the junkyard) to fill all the gaps.
Looked kinda like this one but we didn't take out as much as they did. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1522367380.jpg |

A guess.

Probably not a scam. However, I would assure myself that it doesn't need coil packs and/or ABC (hyd. suspension) parts, because if it does, the cost of that service if not diy could approach the purchase price.
These cars depreciate like rocks, which is why my dd is a '96 v12 w140. |
Very well might be legit. Many people are terrified of those cars, and for good reason as Greg mentioned.
|
Coil packs are $$$$$$$$ even if you DIY.
If the ABC is shot (probably is or will be soon), good reason to go with coilovers. Take a chance and worst case, you part it out and make your money back easy. |
It is depressing to know that such a nice car is such a maintenance nightmare.

I browse the bike ads all the time and some are blatantly obvious scams - one guy's been listing a 2007 Honda CBR600RR for $1000 for months, and that's just one of his ads. How do I recognize his others? None of his ads ever have pictures of these amazing deals and all of them list the bike as one thing in the title/text and as a 2007 Kawasaki in the specs; he usually has five or so fake ads running. |

First servicing would probably cost more than the purchase price!:) |
This SL looks like a good deal:
Just needs a few parts and some paint. |
