dang..weather is getting WARM! mesh motorcycle jacket.

i kid you not..Monday my windshield was iced. i got lazy (for scraping ice) and rode my motorcycle in.

now? holy crap! starting Tuesday; it is damn near too hot to ride. i need a summer jacket. thanks to Eric here on PPOT, i think i want another KLIM jacket. the Induction.

i've never worn a mesh motorcycle jacket before. i used to just suffer thru with my Vanson leathers. i was younger and dumber i suppose. they cant offer the same protection right?

Eric sold me his old KLIM badlands PRO gear. i bet with some layering i could snow-mobile with that jacket. i'm still wearing it now, but with all the vents wide open.

anyone (i hope not) go down wearing mesh gear?

I wear mesh gear all the time (Olympia). But am pleased to say that I’ve never needed it to protect my skin.

My Klim mesh jacket seems very tough and although I've never skidded down the highway with it, I think it offers the same protection as my other mid-weight jackets.

I have but never wear the klim mesh pants. They are more bulky and heavy than all of my other pants.

My Vanson is perforated. Positively breezy at speed. I don't know how it stacks up against the Klim, but it was way better than the mesh crap pushed by Joe Rocket and other brands back when I bought it about 17 years ago.

I prefer a fully perforated leather jacket. The first time I wore it on the freeway it felt like I had nothing on. I have to make sure it's a really hot day without big changes in temperature before I wear it.

^^^^ I just stuff a bicycle rain jacket in the tankbag if the weather's iffy. Keeps me dry and warmish when worn over the perf'd leather. And because it's made for bicycles, it beathes somewhat, doesn't balloon or flap at speed, and is reflective.

I have acquired a mesh jacket, a regular jacket, & a rain jacket over the years. I wear the mesh jacket most of the time since it's pretty warm lots of the year. I wear the rain jacket for short jaunts on cool days when just a wind breaker type jacket is fine.

I have the same jacket, fully perf. Flows lots of air but I still find I reach for a light armored mesh jacket more often. A bit roomier and has more pockets for phone, wallet, etc.

Not me but a bud did. Sadly his jacket was a very weathered nylon mesh and it was a bit loose fitting so it did tear during the slide. He got off easy with minor rash.

Another nice thing about the mesh jacket....you don't get wind blown. The wind buffeting stops and instead goes right thru you. It really smooths out the ride (especially if you are on a naked bike like mine).

Also, when you are stopped at a red light, you will heat up like any other jacket but as soon as you take off, it's like you turned on the A/C. I love my mesh jacket.
